Udayana University Holds National Insight Program for Affirmative Scholarship Students from Bali and NTB

Denpasar — Udayana University (Unud), in collaboration with the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment (PPAPT) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, organized the National Insight Program (Wawasan Kebangsaan) for Affirmative Scholarship Students from Bali and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The event took place at the BKPSDM Bali Province from October 24–26, 2025. The program was officially opened by the Rector of Udayana University, accompanied by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and the Head of the Student Affairs Bureau.

In her report, Ketut Desi Anggraeni Sulistyawati, S.E., M.M., Chair of the Organizing Committee, stated that the event was attended by 93 students from five universities, namely: Udayana University (27 participants), University of Mataram (15 participants), Ganesha University of Education (23 participants), Bali State Polytechnic (26 participants), and the Indonesian Institute of the Arts Denpasar (2 participants). She expressed her hope that through this inter-campus forum, students could foster a spirit of unity, diversity, and constructive contribution to strengthen national identity and solidarity among Indonesia’s young generation.

The committee extended its appreciation to PPAPT for entrusting Udayana University as the host institution. It was emphasized that this activity should not merely serve as a ceremonial event but also instill sustainable values — such as patriotism, moral discipline, and social awareness — as the foundation for nurturing academically excellent and nationally minded youth.

In his opening address, Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., stressed that affirmative scholarship students are the selected sons and daughters of the nation, representing the state’s real commitment to ensuring equal access to higher education. In addition to highlighting the importance of strong character and integrity, he also urged students to be empathetic individuals, never to mock others’ misfortunes, and to reject all forms of bullying and apathy on campus.

“A university must be a safe space for students to grow, learn, and develop with dignity,” the Rector affirmed.

The first day of the program featured a series of strategic sessions, beginning with “Strategies for Achieving Academic Excellence and Timely Graduation through Self-Development” by Dr. Meky Sagriem, S.P., M.Si., followed by a session on “Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS)” by I Gusti Agung Ayu Dike Widhiyaastuti, S.H., M.H., and a discussion on “The Values of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika in National Life.” All sessions were conducted interactively, encouraging dialogue, reflection, and critical discussion to strengthen students’ ethical and civic perspectives.

Subsequent sessions covered strategic youth issues such as drug abuse prevention, social deviance awareness, and an in-depth lecture on National Insight delivered by Prof. Dr. I Dewa Gede Palguna, S.H., M.Hum. These materials equipped participants not only with theoretical understanding but also with the capacity to translate national values into practical actions in their campus, community, and broader social environments.

Throughout the two-day program, participants engaged in character-building activities that included an opening ceremony, a reflection night, bonfire lighting, the Reading of the Student National Pledge following the signing of the Affirmative Scholarship Commitment, as well as art performances, award presentations, and a closing ceremony.

The 2025 National Insight Program for Affirmative Scholarship Students is expected to serve as a strong foundation for participants to become agents of unity, rejecting intolerance, upholding human dignity, and contributing to the nation’s progress with intelligence and integrity.

During the closing ceremony, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., expressed appreciation and gratitude to the organizing committee, speakers, and all participating students for their enthusiasm and spirit of nationalism throughout the event.

“Through this program, affirmative students are not only invited to understand the values of nationalism, patriotism, and diversity as part of our national identity, but also to commit to embodying those values in academic and social life. This initiative also reaffirms the strategic collaboration between Udayana University and PPAPT in shaping a young generation with strong character, integrity, and dedication to safeguarding the unity of the Republic of Indonesia,” he stated.

Concluding the ceremony, the Vice Rector officially closed the 2025 Affirmative Student National Insight Program, extending gratitude to all parties who contributed to its success and expressing hope that all participants would translate their national commitments into real action in the years to come.
