Strengthening Educational Diplomacy, Universitas Udayana Hosts a Public Lecture by the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China

Universitas Udayana held a public lecture with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in Denpasar, Zhang Zhisheng, themed “Indonesia–China: A Comprehensive Strategic Partnership toward Indonesia Emas 2045,” on Friday, December 12, 2025, at the Lecture Building, Jimbaran Campus. The event was attended by the university leadership, deans, lecturers, students, and the entire academic community of Universitas Udayana as part of efforts to strengthen international cooperation in higher education.

In his welcoming remarks, the Rector of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation and respect for the presence of the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar. He emphasized that this public lecture represents a tangible manifestation of the close friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Indonesia and China, particularly in the fields of education, science, and technology.

“This academic forum is strong evidence of our shared commitment to strengthening educational diplomacy and building sustainable, mutually beneficial cooperation between Indonesia and China,” said the Rector.

Furthermore, the Rector highlighted that higher education institutions play a strategic role not only as centers for the development of knowledge, but also as key actors in educational diplomacy, human resource development, and the creation of sustainable innovation ecosystems. According to him, Universitas Udayana is committed to making international cooperation one of the main pillars of institutional development through strengthening global networks, research collaboration, academic exchanges, and cross-cultural capacity building in line with national development priorities.

Meanwhile, in his public lecture, the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Denpasar, Zhang Zhisheng, presented a comprehensive overview of China’s political, economic, and social systems, as well as its national development direction through the Five-Year Plans. He emphasized that the strategic partnership between Indonesia and China is built on a strong foundation and continues to grow constructively.

“China and Indonesia are strategic partners with long-term development visions. Through close cooperation, including with higher education institutions, we can create tangible benefits for both nations,” Zhang Zhisheng stated.

The Consul General also underscored the importance of aligning China’s development initiatives with the vision of Indonesia Emas 2045. According to him, opportunities for collaboration are wide open, particularly in the fields of education, technology, research, and human resource development. He stressed that young people and academics play a crucial role in fostering mutual understanding, trust, and the sustainability of Indonesia–China relations in the future.

This public lecture also served as a strategic dialogue forum for the academic community of Universitas Udayana to broaden perspectives on global dynamics and international cooperation. Participants’ enthusiasm was evident during the interactive discussion and question-and-answer session, which explored various opportunities for concrete collaboration between the two countries in higher education and innovation.

Through this event, Universitas Udayana hopes to further strengthen its role as a center for international dialogue and educational diplomacy in Bali and Indonesia more broadly. The public lecture is expected to encourage the emergence of collaborative initiatives in education, research, and community service, while also reinforcing Indonesia–China relations in supporting the realization of sustainable development toward Indonesia Emas 2045.
