Seven Professors Inaugurated by the Rector, Expected to Enhance the Competitiveness of Universitas Udayana
Jimbaran – Universitas Udayana held the Inauguration Ceremony for Permanent Professors at the Widya Sabha Auditorium Building, Jimbaran Campus, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. A total of seven Permanent Professors were inaugurated by the Rector of Universitas Udayana, consisting of one professor each from the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, the Faculty of Agriculture, and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, as well as three professors from the Faculty of Economics and Business.
The seven professors inaugurated were:
(1) Prof. Dr. Drs. I Nengah Punia, M.Si., Professor in the field of Cultural Sociology at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, with the inaugural lecture entitled “Narrative Identity: Ethical, Aesthetic, and Political Implications”;
(2) Prof. Dr. Ni Putu Wiwin Setyari, S.E., M.Si., Professor in Macroeconomics and Public Policy at the Faculty of Economics and Business, with the inaugural lecture entitled “Building a Resilient and Sustainable Indonesian Economy: From Tax Optimization to Behavioral Transformation and Public Investment”;
(3) Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes., Professor in the field of Occupational Physiological Ergonomics at the Faculty of Medicine, with the inaugural lecture entitled “The Role of Occupational Physiological Ergonomics in Improving Health Quality and Comfort to Optimize Productivity”;
(4) Prof. Dr. Ir. I Made Mega, M.S., Professor in Industrial Crop Production at the Faculty of Agriculture, with the inaugural lecture entitled “Agarwood as a Strategic Commodity: Integrating Economic, Ecological, and Social Values for Sustainable Agriculture”;
(5) Prof. Dr. Ketut Widya Purnawati, S.S., M.Hum., Professor in Linguistic Typology at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, with the inaugural lecture entitled “Challenges in Learning Japanese for Indonesian Speakers: A Typological Perspective”;
(6) Prof. Dr. I Nyoman Mahaendra Yasa, S.E., M.Si., Professor in Regional Economics and Inequality at the Faculty of Economics and Business, with the inaugural lecture entitled “Strengthening Structural Transformation and Accelerating Macroeconomic Performance”; and
(7) Prof. Dr. Dodik Ariyanto, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., Professor in Accounting Information Systems at the Faculty of Economics and Business, with the inaugural lecture entitled “The Success of Digital Transformation in MSME Accounting toward a Sustainable Information Society.”
In his remarks, the Rector of Universitas Udayana, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana, stated that with the addition of these seven newly inaugurated professors, Universitas Udayana now has a total of 248 professors.
“I am confident that this number will continue to increase in the future. This confidence is further supported by data from the Human Resources Division, which shows that out of 1,512 teaching staff, 223 hold doctoral degrees with the functional position of Associate Professor (Lektor Kepala) or equivalent (14.74 percent), and 234 hold the functional position of Lecturer or equivalent (15.47 percent),” said the Rector.
With a relatively large percentage of Associate Professors, there is significant potential for further growth in the number of professors at Universitas Udayana. With the increasing number of outstanding human resources at Unud, the university hopes to continue enhancing its competitiveness at both the national and international levels.
Meanwhile, the Chair of the Universitas Udayana Professors’ Forum, represented by the Forum Secretary Prof. Nyoman Sadra Dharmawan, stated in his remarks that achieving the highest academic rank is proof of resilience and academic excellence. This is a moment of shared pride, especially for the families. The inauguration affirms the position of professors as intellectual leaders.
“We invite all of you to continue producing scholarly work: generating new innovations, strengthening education, research, and community service at our university, and providing concrete solutions for the nation,” he said.
“Congratulations on your continued contributions with the highest integrity. May you always remain healthy and continue to serve as role models in the world of education,” he added.
