BKGN 2025: A Collaboration Between the Dentistry Study Program, Udayana University Dental and Oral Hospital, and PT Unilever to Raise Awareness on Oral Health
Jimbaran – The Faculty of Medicine at Udayana University, through its Dentistry Study Program, once again held the National Dental Health Month (BKGN) 2025 at the Udayana University Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM Unud) on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.
This activity is part of a collaboration between the Dentistry Study Program of Udayana University, RSGM Udayana University, and PT Unilever Indonesia, supported by the Indonesian Dental Association (PDGI) and the Association of Dental Hospitals. The 2025 BKGN event is also part of a nationwide movement held simultaneously across Indonesia to increase public awareness of the importance of oral and dental health.
Carrying the theme “Check Your Teeth and Gums – Free of Charge, Free of Worry, Free of Hassle,” the event was attended by the Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Medicine, the Coordinator of the Dentistry and Dental Profession Study Program, the Head of the Department of Dentistry, Faculty of Medicine, the Director of RSGM Unud, the Director of Udayana University Hospital, representatives from Badung Regency Health Office, the Chairperson of PDGI Badung Branch (or representative), representatives from the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahasaraswati University Denpasar, PT Unilever Indonesia, as well as academic staff, undergraduate, and professional dentistry students of Udayana University.
In her report, drg. Putu Mariati Kaman Dewi, Sp.KG., as the Chairperson of the Committee, stated that the implementation of BKGN 2025 at Udayana University serves as a form of community service as well as a promotive and preventive effort to maintain oral health.
“This year’s BKGN is held in conjunction with the School Heart Program, offering free dental care and check-ups such as scaling, fillings, simple tooth extractions, and dental consultations for the public. In addition, fun and educational competitions and entertainment are also organized to raise public awareness of oral and dental health,” she explained.
Meanwhile, drg. Putu Ratna Kusumadewi Giri, Sp.KG., Director of RSGM Unud, expressed that public enthusiasm for this event continues to grow each year.
“In 2025, our target increased to 750 patients, and we are almost over capacity. I am very proud of the organizing committee and hope that Udayana University’s academic community continues to provide the best service for the public,” she stated.
From the partner side, Ade Zulfikar Abraham Iqbal, MBA, Deputy Account Manager of PT Unilever Indonesia for the Bali Region, expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration with Udayana University since 2020.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to once again collaborate with Udayana University in organizing BKGN. This year, our focus is on gum health, as gum disease is the second most common dental problem in Indonesia after cavities, yet it is often overlooked,” he explained.
The BKGN 2025 event was officially opened by Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, MPH., Ph.D., Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University. In his opening remarks, he expressed appreciation to all parties who contributed to the success of the event.
“I extend my highest appreciation to our partners and organizing committee for successfully carrying out this positive initiative, which is conducted simultaneously across Indonesia. BKGN is not only a service activity but also a large-scale public health campaign that is both educational and impactful. I hope this program continues and helps make RSGM Unud more widely known to the public,” he said.
Prof. Ady also added that through the implementation of National Dental Health Month 2025, Udayana University is expected to continue contributing to improving public health, particularly in the field of oral and dental health, while strengthening its role in promotive and preventive efforts that bring broad benefits to society.
