Udayana University Hosts Workshop to Strengthen Journal Editorial Capabilities

Denpasar, 5 December 2025 – Udayana University (Unud), through the Journal and Scientific Publication Unit, held a workshop titled Enhancing Journal Editorial Capabilities on Friday, 5 December 2025, at the Postgraduate Hall, Sudirman Campus. The event was attended by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs of Udayana University, the Head of the Journal and Scientific Publication Unit, the Head of the Library Unit, as well as invited lecturers from various faculties within Udayana University.

The event opened with remarks from the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D., who emphasized the importance of strengthening journal editorial capabilities in supporting the quality of scientific publications in higher education. He stated that improving the quality of journal editorial management is an integral part of Udayana University's efforts to enhance its contribution to research and scientific publications at both national and international levels.

“This workshop aims to provide knowledge and skills to journal editors at Udayana University so that they can manage and publish high-quality scientific works more professionally. With enhanced capabilities, we hope that journals managed by Udayana University will gain greater visibility and recognition globally,” stated Prof. Sujaya in his speech.

The workshop featured keynote speaker Dr. Muh. Firyal Akbar, S.I.P., M.Si., an expert in academic journal management from Muhammadiyah University of Gorontalo. He delivered material on the latest techniques for strengthening journal editorial capacity, covering managerial, technical, and publication ethics aspects. The speaker also provided practical tips on how journals can maximize their potential to enhance institutional reputation through improved management.

“Journal editorial quality is not only reflected in the content of the articles but also in a transparent and professional editorial process. Therefore, we hope participants will apply the knowledge gained from this workshop to improve the quality of journals across Udayana University,” explained Dr. Firyal during his presentation.

The event received positive responses from participants, consisting of lecturers and journal managers within Udayana University. Through this workshop, the university expects to make a significant contribution to elevating the quality of its scientific journals while expanding its academic network internationally.
