Udayana University Postgraduate Program Celebrates Its 33rd Anniversary: “Multidisciplinary Harmony for a Sustainable Future”
Denpasar — The Postgraduate Program of Udayana University celebrated its 33rd anniversary with solemnity and togetherness on October 9, 2025, at the Postgraduate Auditorium, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar. The event was attended by the Rector of Udayana University, Vice Rectors, the Chair of the University Senate, Deans, the Director and Deputy Directors of the Postgraduate Program, former Postgraduate Directors (2000–2025), the Heads of LP3M and LP2M, Program Coordinators, Unit Coordinators, teaching staff, and alumni. All participants shared their support for this year’s theme, “Multidisciplinary Harmony for a Sustainable Future.”
In his report, Dr. Made Agung Raharja, Chair of the Committee, explained that the theme reflects the spirit of Udayana University’s Postgraduate Program in uniting diverse disciplines to collaboratively and sustainably address the challenges of the times. “Harmony” symbolizes synergy among various fields of knowledge, while “sustainability” represents the commitment to building a better future for science, society, and the environment. The theme serves as a reminder that true progress can only be achieved when knowledge moves in balance—complementary, integrated, and beneficial for future generations.
Prof. I Nyoman Suprapta Winaya, Director of the Postgraduate Program, in his remarks referred to Ministerial Regulation of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Permenristekdikti) No. 30 of 2016 on the Organization and Work Procedures of Udayana University, supported by Rector’s Decree No. 592/UN14/PP.03.01/2016, which states that monodisciplinary Master’s and Doctoral Programs are administratively managed by their respective faculties. Meanwhile, the six multidisciplinary Master’s and Doctoral Programs remain under the Postgraduate School.
He also announced that, following the issuance of an official decree from the Ministry in the near future, the Postgraduate Program will soon open a Master’s Program in Hospital Management (MARS). On this occasion, Prof. Winaya emphasized that every program can only succeed through strong and sustainable synergy.
“No faculty is higher or lower than the others—we are all integral parts of one big Udayana University family. Let us focus on our shared goal: to elevate Udayana University as an excellent, independent, cultured, and impactful institution—not only nationally but also internationally,” he stated.
He expressed hope that the Postgraduate Program would become a home for innovation, a hub for interdisciplinary collaboration, and a place where future leaders—intelligent, ethical, and impactful—can emerge for the benefit of society.
Meanwhile, Udayana University Rector, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., in his speech, congratulated the Postgraduate Program on its 33rd anniversary. The Rector emphasized the importance of strengthening cross-disciplinary studies to ensure research outcomes are more comprehensive. Currently, the Postgraduate Program manages six study programs, and he expressed hope that this number would continue to grow, making it the largest in the university.
The Rector also encouraged each study program to open international classes as a bridge toward double-degree or dual-degree programs, to attract more international students and expand global collaboration. Addressing challenges in postgraduate management, he proposed a solution to separate academic and administrative home bases, ensuring smoother academic careers for lecturers and administrative processes—an initiative that will soon be implemented at Udayana University.
Going forward, the Postgraduate Program will be developed into a Graduate School, parallel to the Vocational School, to strengthen Udayana University’s position as a research-based multidisciplinary university. The Rector also highlighted the importance of synergy and collaboration in optimizing the university’s resources, including laboratories and facilities located in Bukit Jimbaran.
“Let us build Udayana University together with the spirit of collaboration so that we can realize our shared vision for a brighter future,” he concluded.
