Building a Quality Culture, LP3M Udayana University Holds Assistance in Completing SPMI Documents

Denpasar - Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance (LP3M) Udayana University held assistance in improving the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI) document at the Postgraduate Building Hall, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, Thursday (28/4/2022). This activity was opened by the Rector of Udayana University and attended by the Deans, Director of Postgraduate, Chair and Secretary of LP3M, and about 100 participants who were UP3M and TPPM Faculties/Postgraduates in the Udayana University. This assistance presented 4 resource persons, namely Prof. Nyoman Sadra Dharmawan, Dr. I Wayan Suardana, Prof. Ni Nyoman Suryani, and Dr. Ni Luh Nyoman Seri Malini.

Committee Chair Ida Bagus Wayan Gunam, Ph.D in his report said that the activity began with activities on March 24-25, namely SPMI training in a hybrid way. As a continuation of the training, a review/identification of SPMI document problems has been carried out in each unit and this time assistance was carried out to discuss existing problems so that they can jointly fix them so that a better SPMI document is produced. The purpose of this activity is to equalize perceptions in perfecting the SPMI document which is a reference/guideline in carrying out quality assurance in higher education. In the end, it is also to improve the quality of higher education in a planned and sustainable manner and to build a "quality culture" at Udayana University.

To ensure that the implementation of academic and non-academic activities can be effective and useful and in accordance with the vision, mission, goals and objectives of Udayana University, the management of SPMI Unud is designed using a quality control management model, namely Determination, Implementation, Evaluation, Control, and Improvement of Udayana University Standards (PPEPP). The above stages sequentially form an SPMI cycle that always moves dynamically and continuously in an upward direction, namely towards continuous quality improvement. This activity is also one of the activities included in “Standard Improvement” in PPEPP. This assistance is also at the same time following up on the results of the Monev and findings of the Internal Quality Audit (AMI) that have been carried out in the previous period (document revision). This year's AMI is planned to be implemented in August 2022.

While the Rector of Udayana University Prof. I Nyoman Gde Antara in his speech said that from upstream to downstream the quality assurance process was on the shoulders of the participants who were present. Therefore, his party appreciated their participation in this activity. Furthermore, the Rector said that we are indeed pursuing the target of changing the appearance of Udayana University in the future, creating an integrated campus ecosystem in an effort to produce graduates who are superior, independent and cultured and contribute to the nation. For that we must pay attention to two things, namely academic and non-academic. LP3M is expected to play a major role in achieving academic achievements, namely creating a quality culture that is closely related to SPMI and SPME. Everything related to quality must be optimized and ensure that SPMI and SPME must run and PPEPP must be sustainable.

With regard to SPME, we have to adjust now to the appropriate accreditation where since March 30, 2022 there has been a new Independent Accreditation Institute (LAM) and related Study Programs to adjust. For this reason, the challenge is we have to adjust to the indicators used by the LAM. The Rector was grateful that out of 118 study programs, 60.2 percent achieved excellent and excellent accreditation. We will also move to international accreditation and this year there are 9 study programs that are internationally accredited and in the next 2 years it is targeted or proposed 26 study programs in that direction. It is hoped that next year there will be 14 study programs that have won it. We have to increase the percentage of internationally accredited study programs so that we don't lag behind other state universities. We must convince ourselves that a quality culture can be achieved through coordination and communication to move forward together. We have to work hard for that, and the Chancellor gave his appreciation to LP3M and the participants who were at the forefront of the culture of quality.
