KKN-PPM UNUD PROVIDES WORKSHOP OF USING COFFEE SEEDS FOR GOAT FEED FEED AT SANDA VILLAGE, PUPUAN TABANAN

The chief executive provides demonstrations and Technical Guidance on making complete rations made from raw coffee bean skin

Sanda Village is one of the centers of coffee development in the Pupuan District area. In addition, Sanda Village has the potential as a center for the development of etawah crossbreed goats. However, the problems faced by the community, especially goat farmers, are the ability to provide forage for the whole year.

The Chairperson of the Sanda Village Community Service Community Service Program, Dr. Ir. I Gusti Lanang Oka Cakra, M.Sc., stated that considering the coffee production in Sanda village is quite high and in the stripping process it produces almost 50% of coffee bean skin, and there has been no attempt to utilize it as goat's feed, then this problem is then raised become the main program theme of KKN-PPM XVII. This program is a Community Service Program funded by the Directorate of Research and Community Service of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.

One of the activities carried out by KKN PPM Sanda Village is Technical Guidance to increase the knowledge and skills of goat farmers in producing forage, by utilizing coffee bean skin as goat's feed. Animal feed derived from coffee bean skin has better nutritional value than protein from field grass and elephant grass. This can be used as an alternative supply of feed in the dry season with a comparison of certain ingredients so as to get the nutritional content that is in accordance with the needs of the animals to be given.

Technical guidance was followed by 35 goat farmers in Sanda Village. Also present in the Technical Guidance, Sanda Village Chief, I Ketut Sunartha, A.Md. The Sanda Village Chief welcomed this activity because it was very useful and relevant in relation to the discourse of Sanda Village. Thus, the skills acquired through this bimtek can be used to increase the production of the goat.
