170th Graduation Ceremony, Rector of Udayana University Sends Off 1,235 Graduates, Hopes They Will Contribute to the Advancement of Society, the Nation, and the State
Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held an Academic Ceremony in celebration of its 170th Graduation Ceremony at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus, on Saturday (August 30, 2025). A total of 1,235 graduates were officially conferred their degrees, bringing the university’s total alumni count to 132,154 to date.
When categorized by academic level, the graduates consisted of 38 Doctoral (Ph.D.) graduates, 82 Master's graduates, 14 Specialist graduates, 89 Professional degree holders, 947 Bachelor's graduates, and 65 Diploma holders. Among all the graduates, 695 earned the distinction of “With Honors” or Cum Laude.
In his report, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.Sc., Ph.D, stated that this cohort of graduates was predominantly female, with 677 women compared to 558 men. In terms of academic achievement, the average GPA for female graduates was higher at 3.83, compared to 3.78 for male graduates. The average study duration for female graduates was 7.95 semesters, while for male graduates, it was 7.85 semesters.
“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to all graduates. We hope that through the education you have received, you not only master academic knowledge but also live intelligently by upholding strong personal character in your work and community life. Always strive to demonstrate dedication, innovation, and collaboration in your careers. May this mark the beginning of a successful professional journey,” said Prof. Sujaya.
On this occasion, the Vice Rector also expressed gratitude to the graduates' families for entrusting Udayana University as the place for their higher education. He encouraged all graduates to participate in the university’s online tracer study, which serves as a vital tool for gathering alumni feedback aimed at improving and developing the university’s systems, management, facilities, teaching methods, learning processes, and services.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D, in his address, congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their academic journey at Udayana University. He acknowledged that this success was the result of hard work and perseverance in overcoming various challenges throughout their studies. He also expressed his highest appreciation and pride in the graduates’ accomplishments.
The Rector further emphasized that graduation is the final academic milestone in a particular level of higher education. It is a formal recognition of the completion of a specific academic stage and also reflects the university’s commitment to contributing to the nation, particularly in preparing high-quality and globally competitive human resources.
“Graduation and the degree you have earned are not the end, but rather the beginning of new challenges in life. I urge all graduates to contribute to maintaining peace in these uncertain times. As alumni, you represent Udayana University in the wider community. Your conduct will reflect on the reputation of this institution. Therefore, we ask you to uphold the good name of your alma mater by always thinking, speaking, and acting with integrity,” the Rector advised.
“May the knowledge you have gained be well-implemented for the advancement of society, the nation, and the state,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, graduate representative Ni Nyoman Tari Maryati Ayu Swari shared her reflections on the journey through university life, describing it as filled with both joyful and challenging moments — all of which are valuable memories. She expressed gratitude to parents and lecturers who provided unwavering support throughout their studies. She closed her speech with a quote:
"What happens in the future is determined by what we do today."
