Through flagship programs involving close collaboration between students, lecturers, and village communities, this national-level award represents the ministry’s appreciation for all components that actively support village development and the acceleration of the Village SDGs.

The achievement of six medals in 2025 marks an improvement compared to five medals in 2024. These awards also reflect Universitas Udayana’s strong commitment to implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in the area of Community Service. Through various empowerment programs based on research, innovation, and technology, Unud has been recognized for delivering sustainable and tangible solutions for society.

The Head of the Character Development and Community Service Unit, Wayan Nata Septiadi—who also served as one of the supervising lecturers—explained that the medals were earned by three implementation teams that advanced to the Abdidaya event, namely the PPK-O teams of the Mechanical Engineering Student Association, the Industrial Engineering Student Association, and the Environmental Engineering Student Association; three supervising lecturers; three student organizations; and one partner village. The award ceremony, held over three days from December 4 to 7, 2025, at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), marked the culmination of the PPK Ormawa activities that had been carried out for approximately five months in various villages across Indonesia.

The Vice Rector for Student Affairs of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., expressed his gratitude and appreciation for this achievement.

“The Abdidaya 2025 Award proves that Universitas Udayana remains committed to encouraging students and the academic community to be present within society, to make real contributions, and to become part of positive change,” he stated.

One of the programs highlighted in this year’s competition was SERI-LUH TOGA: “Community Empowerment in Preserving Ancestral Heritage through ASMAN TOGA in Gunaksa Village Based on Smart Technology.” The program involved students from various engineering faculties, particularly the Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering study programs, in efforts to enhance community capacity through technology, develop local potential, and promote sustainability-based innovation. The program was considered to have a direct impact on the community and to serve as a replicable model of community service for other regions.

The Head of Gunaksa Village, I Wayan Sadiarna, S.H., added that this success was the result of the hard work of the entire team as well as the support of the community and the partner village government.

“This is the result of collaboration. Students learn, and the community grows. We hope this program will continue to provide long-term benefits,” he said.

With the achievement of the Abdidaya 2025 Award, Universitas Udayana further strengthens its position as a higher education institution that is active, adaptive, and innovative in carrying out its community service mission. Going forward, Unud remains committed to continuously developing programs oriented toward empowerment, appropriate technology, and environmental and social sustainability.
