Jimbaran, October 7, 2025 — The Faculty of Agricultural Technology (FTP) of Udayana University held the peak celebration of its 41st Anniversary and the 31st Family Gathering on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at the JA Building area, Bukit Jimbaran Campus. The celebration was marked by the symbolic cutting of tumpeng (a cone-shaped rice dish) by the Dean of FTP and attended by the Rector and Vice Rectors of Udayana University, the Chair of the Bali Provincial General Election Commission (KPU), Deans from other faculties, the Director of Postgraduate Programs, Heads of Institutes, lecturers, staff, and students of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. In his report, Committee Chair I Gede Arda stated that this year’s event adopted the theme “Growing Agriculture Technology.” He further expressed hope that the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, as part of Udayana University, could play a significant role in supporting agricultural advancement both in Bali and across Indonesia. “Through this celebration, we also hope to strengthen our spirit of togetherness and solidarity, as the challenges ahead will only become greater and will require strong collaboration among all of us,” he added. Dean of FTP Prof. I Made Anom Sutrisna Wijaya in his remarks outlined several achievements during his tenure, particularly regarding accreditation results. In terms of international collaboration, FTP continues to implement Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi (three pillars of higher education) with several partner institutions, including Boku University (Austria), Australian Catholic University (Australia) through student exchange, Sookmyung Women’s University (Korea) through short courses, semester-based programs, and student exchanges — notably, the semester-based program was the first and only one in Asia established by Sookmyung Women’s University, and Udayana University is the only institution in Indonesia successfully running it for the second consecutive year. The Dean also discussed faculty achievements recognized by industry and society, lecturer involvement in off-campus activities, and the success of graduates in securing employment or pursuing higher studies—many of which exceeded targets. However, he noted that some areas still need improvement, including Case-Based and Project-Based learning methods, which have only reached 30% of the 40% target; competency/professional certification for lecturers; and the participation of professional practitioners as teaching staff, currently at 17% of the 20% target. Student engagement in off-program learning activities and achievements also remain below target. Meanwhile, the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana, in his address, congratulated FTP on its 41st Anniversary and 31st Family Gathering, wishing for continued progress and meaningful contributions to the university’s advancement and to the wider community, with a positive impact on Bali at the global level. The Rector also expressed his appreciation for the accomplishments achieved by FTP, made possible through the support and dedication of the faculty’s academic community. He further invited all members to work together toward achieving common goals, particularly within the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. Additionally, FTP is expected to prepare itself to respond to the university’s transformation toward PTNBH (Legal Entity State University) status.
“This theme serves as a reflection that although we still take pride in being an agrarian nation, there is yet to be a strong collective will to truly protect agriculture as the backbone of our country. Therefore, we must support agriculture through the application of appropriate technology that can truly benefit society,” he said.
“Accreditation reflects the quality of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology. Out of the four study programs we have, one has reached Excellent status and also achieved international accreditation — the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering program. Two programs have been accredited as Very Good: the Undergraduate Food Technology program and the Undergraduate Agroindustrial Technology program. Meanwhile, the Master’s Program in Food Technology currently holds a B accreditation,” he explained.
Other collaborations include Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology (Japan) for research and student exchanges, Kangwon National University (Korea) for research collaboration, UTM Malaysia for research and staff exchange, AIT Thailand for research collaboration, and ACIAR Australia for joint research.
“We hope to increase these achievements in the coming years, and we will design specific programs to help us reach those goals,” Prof. Anom said.
“I hope the Dean of FTP can prioritize performance improvement programs going forward. A faculty can truly be a source of pride when it achieves Excellent accreditation status. Regarding facilities, the university leadership remains committed to continuously developing proposals for collaboration with Udayana’s partners. As an institution, Udayana University plays a crucial role in producing the human resources needed by both local and national governments,” the Rector stated.
“This faculty holds a highly strategic position because it is closely linked to the downstream implementation of research results and produces innovations that support government programs in food sovereignty. Faculties across Udayana are expected to build synergy, while each study program must identify and develop its unique strengths,” he said.
“This anniversary is not merely a celebration, but also a moment of introspection—to reflect on what we have accomplished and what we must do next. Through this reflection, we can identify our weaknesses and the potentials that can be developed into the strengths of our study programs and the Faculty of Agricultural Technology as a whole,” the Rector concluded.
