Jimbaran – The Regent of Badung, I Wayan Adi Arnawa, along with the Deputy Regent, Regional Secretary, Heads of Departments, and other officials, visited Udayana University on Thursday (August 21, 2025) to explore a collaboration on asset utilization. The visit was warmly received by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana, along with the Vice Rectors, Director of Udayana University Hospital (RS Unud), and other university leaders.

The visit began at RS Unud, where the delegation inspected the existing facilities, which are expected to support the healthcare needs of the Badung community. During the visit, the Regent directly reviewed various hospital facilities, including the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Operating Rooms, X-Ray Room, Inpatient Facilities, and Polyclinics.

On this occasion, the Director of RS Unud, Prof. Anak Agung Wiradewi Lestari, explained the available infrastructure and potential areas of collaboration with the Badung Regency Government to support healthcare availability, particularly in South Badung. Previously, RS Unud had received a grant of medical equipment from the Badung Regency Government, and it is hoped that continued support will be provided for the future development and sustainability of the hospital.

Following the hospital visit, the Regent and his delegation, accompanied by the Rector of Udayana University, also reviewed other assets owned by the university that may present future collaboration opportunities.

After the site visits, a meeting was held in the Nusa Room of the Rectorate Building between the Regent and his team and the Rector and university leadership to discuss potential asset utilization partnerships.

Rector Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana stated that many potential areas of collaboration had been discussed. As the oldest and largest university in Bali, Udayana University still requires significant support for development. Many resources, such as human capital and land, are not yet being optimally utilized. He expressed great enthusiasm for the possibility of the Regent leveraging these resources to support the development of Badung. One key opportunity lies with the Udayana University Hospital, which could collaborate with the Badung Regency Government. Additionally, there are other assets and land areas, such as the Dental and Oral Hospital (RSGM), which hold great potential for South Badung. The Rector also opened the door for potential investments from the Badung Regency Government in Udayana University. During the meeting, the Rector presented the university’s master plan and grand design for future development, with hopes that these plans could align with the regional development strategy for South Badung.

Meanwhile, Regent I Wayan Adi Arnawa expressed that there is great potential in collaborating with Udayana University. He noted that regional governments are currently being encouraged to innovate, particularly in terms of generating revenue. With that in mind, he sees the need to partner with Udayana University, which owns valuable and strategic assets, especially as the regional government aims to develop South Badung. In the short term, he sees the university hospital as a significant opportunity and is considering an investment where the regency government would act as an investor through a formal agreement. The RS Unud is expected to enhance healthcare services in South Badung. In addition, discussions were also held regarding the joint utilization of land owned by the university. During the visit, the Regent also presented a draft cooperation agreement to Udayana University.
