Director of Indonesia TCI Unud Drs. I Made Sendra, M.Si in his speech said that Bali is one of the preferred destinations for Chinese tourists. The number of Chinese tourist visits to Bali has increased significantly from 2008-2015. In 2008, Chinese tourists ranked fifth highest. But in 2012, it was ranked second after Australia. This position remained until 2016, and since 2017 Chinese tourists were ranked 1st until 2019. Based on online questionnaire data in China during the Covid-19 pandemic, Bali remains a favorite destination for Chinese tourists.

In this era of globalization, competition between human resources is getting tougher, so mastery of Mandarin is one of the requirements to win the competition in the global market. The Chinese government has provided many opportunities for Indonesian people, especially in Bali, to get scholarships to study in China, provided that they pass the HSK 4 or HSK 5 exams. Therefore, TCI Udayana University opens opportunities for all Udayana University students to learn Mandarin and Chinese culture.

Based on registration data, the number of students who will take part in this Mandarin language training class is around 171 people. There are 154 students who will take HSK 1, 7 students who will take HSK 2, 5 students who will take HSK 3, and there are 4 students who will take HSK 4.
