Prof. Dewa Ngurah Suprapta, Professor of FP Unud Wins AATSEA Award

Jimbaran - Prof. Dr. Ir. Dewa Ngurah Suprapta, M.Sc Professor of the Faculty of Agriculture Unud who is also the Chair of the Senate of Udayana University received the AATSEA Outstanding Leader Award in Education and Research from the Association of Agricultural Technology in Southeast Asia. This award is given to scientists who have been instrumental in developing agricultural technology and disseminating the technology to the public to support sustainable development.

The award was presented by the President of AATSEA Prof. Dr. Kasem Soytong (27/11) at Patrajasa Hotel, Kuta, Badung in the 7th International Conference on Integration of Science and Technology for Sustainable Development which was attended by participants from 23 countries. The AATSEA Award was also given to three other scientists, Prof. Dr. Danilo Sarcon Josue (Philippines), Prof. Dr. Thanuku Samuel Sampath Kumar Patro (India) and Prof. Dr. Hiroyuki Konuma (Japan).

On this occasion Prof. Dewa Ngurah Suprapta also became a keynote speech and in his material said that biodiversity has provided many benefits both directly and indirectly to human life, from the provision of food, medicines, cosmetics to education and culture. Biodiversity also affects floods, disease outbreaks and water purification. Therefore it must be managed and maintained so that the level of extinction can be slowed or even eliminated because if extinct, civilization and human life will also be threatened with extinction.
