Udayana University Holds Orientation for 3,362 KKN PPM Participants, Featuring the Governor of Bali and OJK Representatives as Speakers
Jimbaran – Udayana University, through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), conducted the 2025 Community Service Learning - Community Empowerment Learning (KKN-PPM) Orientation at the Widya Sabha Auditorium Building, Jimbaran Campus, on Friday (June 13, 2025).
Udayana University’s regular KKN is held twice a year, during the January–February and July–August periods. For the 31st period, the KKN will be held from July 13, 2025, to August 25, 2025, with a total of 3,362 students deployed across 214 villages in 8 regencies throughout Bali. The students will be supervised by 214 field supervisors (DPL).
Udayana University’s KKN is implemented through KKN-PPM with a regular thematic approach (aligned with village potentials identified through IMAP – Problem Identification and Village Potential Analysis); Thematic KKN, which regularly collaborates with the Bali Provincial Financial Services Authority (OJK) and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) in conducting thematic KKN LIK (Financial Inclusion Literacy) with OJK and TI PUPR (Thematic Infrastructure of Public Works and Housing); as well as the Udayana Service Program (PUM), a community service collaboration between Udayana University lecturers and KKN students.
The KKN-PPM orientation opening was attended by the Rector, Vice Rectors, SPI, Chairperson and Secretary of LPPM, Faculty and Postgraduate Leaders, Institution Leaders, and other invitees. This hybrid event featured two main speakers: the Governor of Bali and a representative from OJK.
In his speech, Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, emphasized that KKN is not merely an academic activity but a tangible form of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly community service. KKN marks the beginning of students’ and lecturers’ journey in serving society, especially in Bali’s villages. This activity implements the concept of “Campus with Impact” as a continuation of the “Independent Campus” program. Udayana University strives to strengthen collaboration with Bali’s local government to ensure that students’ contributions are relevant and positively impact the community.
Udayana University is very enthusiastic about conducting the KKN activities and hopes that students can directly apply their knowledge and skills in the community while learning from local wisdom and development challenges. Supporting the vision of Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali, which emphasizes harmony and balance among nature, humans, and culture, the KKN implementation translates these values into concrete programs such as community empowerment based on local potential, environmental education and sustainable waste management, digitalization of village services and MSMEs, and revitalization of local culture and eco-tourism awareness.
“I hope the students not only come as guests but become part of the solution and collaboration in the community. Udayana University’s KKN must respond to the current globalization developments, provide solutions to community problems, and improve the quality of life for the people of Bali in particular and Indonesia in general,” said the Rector.
Governor of Bali Wayan Koster, in his presentation, instructed students to document families categorized as poor and very poor, including photos of their conditions, as well as villages lacking access to clean water and damaged roads. This data is important for planning a decent housing program for the poor starting in 2026. Additionally, there will be a priority program for “one family, one graduate” targeted at poor families. Meanwhile, OJK representative Ilhamsyah delivered a presentation on accelerating financial literacy equity in the community through financial literacy ambassadors. His presentation also covered the potentials, challenges, and risks faced by young generations in financial management.
