As Many as 5 Professors Remain Confirmed, Udayana University Now Has 243 Professors
Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held a Permanent Professor Inauguration Ceremony at the Widya Sabha Auditorium Building, Jimbaran Campus, Saturday (31/5/2025). There are 5 (five) Permanent Professors confirmed by the Chancellor of Unud, namely 1 (one) person from the Faculty of Medicine, 1 (one) person from the Faculty of Law, 1 (one) person from the Faculty of Engineering, 1 (one) person from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, and 1 (one) person from the Faculty of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries.
The five Professors who were inaugurated were (1) Prof. I Gusti Ngurah Parikesit Widiatedja, S.H., M.Hum, LLM., Ph.D. as Professor in the field of spatial planning science/expertise, Faculty of Law, (2) Prof. I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang, S.Sc., M.Si., Ph.D. as Professor in the field of Community Science/Remote Sensing Expertise and Environmental Geographic Information Systems, Faculty of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, (3) Prof. Dr. drh. Ida Ayu Pasti Apsari, M.P. as Professor in the field of Veterinary Protozoology science/expertise, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, (4) Prof. Dr. Ir. Lie Jasa, M.T., IPU. as Professor in the field of Electronics Engineering Technology / Expertise, Faculty of Engineering, and (5) Prof. Dr. Dr. Putu Anda Tusta Adiputra, S.Ked, Sp.B.Subsp.Onk(K). as Professor in the field of science / Expertise in Surgical Oncology, Faculty of Medicine.
Unud Chancellor Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D in his speech said that these five new Professors would automatically increase the number of experts at Udayana University whose scientific capabilities had been proven. It is believed that increasing the number of professors at Udayana University can also support improving the quality of the higher education process that takes place at Udayana University. This then contributed to realizing the vision of Udayana University, namely Excellent, Independent and Cultured. With the addition of 5 Professors who will be inaugurated today, currently Udayana University has 243 Professors.
"I believe that this figure will continue to increase in the future, considering that there are 232 teaching staff who have doctoral degrees with the functional position of Associate Professor or the equivalent of (16.76 percent), and 242 people with the functional position of Lector or the equivalent of (17.48 percent)," said the Chancellor of Unud.
The Chancellor further revealed that with a fairly large percentage of Head Professors, this means there is great potential to increase the number of Professors at Udayana University. He hopes that today's inauguration of Professors will inspire other academics to immediately fight for the functional position of Professor. It is hoped that the five professors who were inaugurated today will contribute to the greater benefit of society and Udayana University.
"The challenges for educational institutions in Indonesia in the future will be increasingly high and complex in their efforts to create superior human resources towards a golden Indonesia 2025. We must be able to respond to the impactful campus era or known as GenPT 4.0, especially in terms of research and community service," concluded the Chancellor of Unud.

At this Professorial Inauguration Ceremony, each Professor delivered a Scientific Oration, namely Prof. I Gusti Ngurah Parikesit Widiatedja, S.H., M.Hum, LLM., Ph.D. with the title: The 4-4-2 Strategy: Comprehensive Solution for Spatial Planning Law Transformation Towards Smart and Sustainable Investment in Indonesia, Prof. I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang, S.Sc., M.Si., Ph.D. with the title: Remote Sensing for Environmental Sustainability: From Tropical Ocean Dynamics to Blue Carbon Mapping, Prof. Dr. drh. Ida Ayu Pasti Apsari, M.P. with the title: Identification and Diagnosis of protozoan diseases in animals Based on Serology and Hematology, Prof. Dr. Ir. Lie Jasa, M.T., IPU. with the title: Technological Engineering to Increase the Efficiency of Small-Scale Power Plants for Rural Communities that is Environmentally Friendly and Sustainable, and Prof. Dr. Dr. Putu Anda Tusta Adiputra, S.Ked, Sp.B.Subsp.Onk(K). with the title: Answering the Challenges of the Role of Surgical Oncologists in the Era of Precision Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and Organ-Oriented.
Chair of the Unud Professors Forum, represented by the Chair of the Research Division, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Suarna, MS in his speech said that the Professors Forum has the task of providing input to the Chancellor and existing institutions so that what will be developed or sought by Udayana University is in accordance with local, national and global needs. Apart from being tasked with providing input, the Professors Forum also actively monitors the development of the Udayana University institution.
The Professors Forum has 6 divisions, namely the Education Division, Research Division, Community Service Division, Local Issues Division, National Issues Division and International/Global Issues Division. Of course, the newly inaugurated Professors will join the Professors Forum and participate in one of the six existing divisions. Becoming a Professor is not the end point of the struggle according to the competence or scientific expertise one has but is the first step on the journey towards self-development, self-integrity in accordance with one's expertise.
