Udayana University Holds Second Phase FGD to Finalize Research and Community Service Governance Policies
The Second Phase Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on the Evaluation and Strengthening of Research and Community Service Governance was once again organized by the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Udayana University on Friday, 21 November 2025, at Bali Dynasty Resort, Kuta. This activity is a continuation of the First Phase FGD held on 6 November 2025, which previously generated various strategic inputs for improving grant schemes, evaluating program implementation, and strengthening the direction of research and community service policies.
The event was opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs (WR III) of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr., who attended on behalf of the Rector of Udayana University. In his remarks, he emphasized that this FGD serves as a strategic space to reinforce research governance at Udayana University. He stated, “The guidelines we develop must align with national policies, be in harmony with the university’s vision, and most importantly, generate real impact for society, the government, and the business and industrial sectors.”
The Head of LPPM Udayana University, Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si., also delivered a speech highlighting the importance of validating the policies discussed in this Second Phase FGD. “We hope that all suggestions from stakeholders can serve as a strong basis for developing guidelines that are more relevant, applicable, and responsive to regional and national needs,” he said. He also expressed his appreciation for the support of all participants, including representatives from BRIDA, academics, local government, and industry partners.
The FGD featured a presentation by the Chair of the Revision Team for the Research and Community Service Guidelines, Prof. I Wayan Gede Astawa Karang, S.Si., M.Si., Ph.D., who delivered the policy formulations based on input from the First Phase FGD. Subsequently, focused group discussions were held in several sessions involving university leaders, faculties, research centers, local government representatives, as well as business and industry stakeholders. Through intensive discussions, participants produced a set of recommendations that will serve as the basis for refining governance policies for research and community service grants. This activity also served as an important platform to strengthen cross-sector collaboration in support of the implementation of the Impact Campus initiative.
With the successful implementation of the Second Phase FGD, Udayana University reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving research quality, strengthening structured governance, and ensuring tangible contributions to societal and regional development. The outcomes of this FGD will become strategic foundations in drafting the 2025 Eleventh Edition of the P2M Guidelines, which are expected to support the university’s performance and reputation at both national and international levels.
