Faculty of Tourism of Udayana University Collaborates with Tourism Trends and Plan International Foundation to Hold the “InnovAItion” Seminar

Denpasar, October 8, 2025The Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, in collaboration with Tourism Trends and Plan International Foundation, held a seminar featuring a talk show and Artificial Intelligence (AI) workshop under the theme “Tourism Trends 2025: Facing the Future with InnovAItion.”

The event took place at the Nusantara Room, Agrocomplex Building, Udayana University, Denpasar.
In his report, I Gede Gian Saputra, S.Par., M.Par., as the Chair of the Committee, stated that the event was attended by 200 students from the Faculty of Tourism. This activity represents a collaboration among the academic community, industry practitioners, and other key stakeholders to strengthen students’ readiness in facing future challenges, particularly in the tourism sector.

Dini Arifah, representative of Plan International Foundation, expressed appreciation for this collaboration. She stated that they are committed to supporting students’ talent development and readiness to enter the industry through the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.

The event was moderated by I Gusti Agung Pradnyadari, S.Pd., M.Sc., a lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, who led the discussion in an engaging and interactive manner.

Two keynote speakers shared their strategic insights. Prof. Dr. Drs. I Nyoman Sunarta, M.Si., Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Tourism and Professor at the Faculty of Tourism, emphasized the importance of environmentally based tourism transformation rooted in local values to address global challenges toward regenerative tourism.

Dr. Ida Bagus Rai D. Mantra, S.E., M.Si., Member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) for Bali, former Mayor of Denpasar, and Chair of Ikayana, encouraged students to balance technological advancement with cultural preservation and local wisdom, fostering the right perspective in development.

Following the talk show, the event continued with an AI Training Workshop focused on applying artificial intelligence in academic studies, research, and career preparation for the future.

As a follow-up to this academic–industry collaboration, Tourism Trends, as a tourism media platform, also announced a Call for Papers for the International Journal of Tourism Trends (IJTT) December 2025 edition, with topics covering digital tourism, regenerative tourism, and destination governance. Through this collaboration, it is expected that academic research outcomes can be implemented in real-world tourism activities.
