Udayana University and the Aru Islands Regency Government Extend MoU on Health Human Resource Development
Jimbaran – Udayana University Reinforces Collaboration with Aru Islands Regency Government through MoU Extension on Health Human Resource Development
Udayana University reaffirmed its commitment to collaboration with the Government of Aru Islands Regency through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) extension on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The signing ceremony took place in the Ruang Bahasa, Rectorate Building, Jimbaran Campus, Udayana University.
The MoU signing was attended by Regent of Aru Islands, Timotius Kaidel, accompanied by the Head of the Cooperation Division of the Aru Islands Regency Government, the Director of Dobo Regional Hospital (RSUD Dobo) and staff, along with Udayana University leadership, including the Rector, the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and the Coordinator of the Information and Cooperation Management Unit (UPIKS) of the Faculty of Medicine.
Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., reiterated the university’s commitment to supporting human resource development in the Aru Islands Regency, particularly in the health sector.
“Udayana University is committed to helping provide quality human resources who can contribute to the development of Aru Islands Regency. This MoU extension continues a collaboration that has already been successfully implemented. Moving forward, we hope the programs under this MoU will expand not only within the Faculty of Medicine, but also involve other faculties to support broader development in the Aru Islands,” said Prof. Sudarsana.
Meanwhile, Regent Timotius Kaidel expressed his appreciation and hopes for the continuation of this partnership, especially in addressing the shortage of healthcare professionals in the region, which is categorized as a 3T area (underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost regions).
“Thank you to Udayana University. This is our second visit aimed at strengthening our cooperation in human resource development, particularly in preparing the availability of specialist doctors in the Aru Islands. Our region is in great need, and we hope this partnership will help meet the demand for specialist doctors in hospitals across the Aru Islands,” he stated.
The MoU extension marks a continuation of an established partnership, especially in supporting health services at RSUD Dobo through the provision of specialist doctors and the capacity building of medical personnel. With strengthened collaboration, Udayana University and the Government of Aru Islands Regency are expected to continue working in synergy to advance the health and education sectors for mutual progress.
