Vice Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Dr. Edhie Bhaskoro Yudhoyono Gives Guest Lecture at Udayana University, Emphasizing the Importance of Preserving Balinese Nature and Culture

Saturday, 17 May 2025 – Vice Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly and Chairman of the DPR RI Democratic Party Fraction, Dr. Edhie Bhaskoro Yudhoyono, B.Com., M.Sc., or who is familiarly called Ibas, was a guest speaker at Udayana University (Unud), Bali. This guest lecture was held in the Hall of the Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University with the theme "From Nature to the World: Bali's Blessings for the Nation's Future". This activity was attended by hundreds of students, Rectorate and Dean level leaders, as well as students from thirteen faculties within Udayana University.

The event was opened by the Rector of Udayana University, Prof. I Ketut Sudarsana. In his speech, the Chancellor expressed his appreciation for the presence of Dr. Edhie Bhaskoro Yudhoyono as a speaker. According to him, this guest lecture is an important momentum to instill national insight and awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability among the younger generation.

"This activity is not just an ordinary lecture, but a real step to broaden students' perspectives regarding Bali's natural and cultural potential which can contribute to national development," said Prof. Sudarsana.

In the material delivery session, Ibas emphasized the importance of protecting nature and culture as part of the nation's identity. He explained how Bali is able to maintain harmony between humans and the environment through deeply rooted local customs and wisdom. "We must make nature and culture a strategic force in building the nation. Bali is a real example of how harmony between humans and nature can be a source of blessing, not only for this region, but also for Indonesia and the world," stressed Ibas in front of the students.

Furthermore, Ibas also invited students to take an active part in efforts to preserve the environment and develop local culture. According to him, the younger generation has a central role in ensuring the preservation of nature and culture as national heritage that can be enjoyed by future generations. "Sustainability is not only about preserving what we have now, but also ensuring that what we preserve can be enjoyed by future generations. Let's work together to preserve Bali's blessings and make it a real example for other regions," he added enthusiastically.

In this guest lecture, Ibas also asked several questions to students who looked enthusiastic in the interactive question and answer session. Includes four pillars, the national symbol and the tri hita karana. 3 students who were able to answer received direct prizes in the form of tablet gadgets.

It is hoped that this guest lecture activity will trigger the enthusiasm of Udayana University students to care more about preserving the environment and local culture. Apart from that, it is also hoped that collaboration between government, academics and society can continue to be strengthened in order to maintain Bali's natural and cultural riches as part of the nation's valuable identity.

With the spirit of sustainability emphasized in the guest lecture, Udayana University is optimistic that the younger generation can be at the forefront in caring for cultural and natural heritage for a better future for the nation.
