Absorb Stake Holder Input, FKH Unud held a Workshop on Revitalizing Vision and Mission and Preparation of a Development Master Plan

 

 

The Learning Development and Quality Assurance Unit (LDQA) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM), Udayana University held a Workshop on Revitalizing the Vision and Mission and Preparation of a Master Plan for the Development (MPD) of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University on a hybrid basis, Tuesday 28 June 2022, located in the courtroom on the 1st floor of the FVM Unud Denpasar Building. This workshop activity aims to absorb the aspirations of the stakeholders regarding the current needs of users. This activity invited Lecturers in the Unud FVM environment and presented speakers from various fields ranging from Academics to Practitioners. The speakers who were presented were: Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Mahardika, MS (Professor of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry Udayana University), drh. Soeharsono, DTVS., Ph.D (Researcher and Former Head of Balai Besar Veteriner (BBVet) Denpasar), Drh. I Dewa Made Anom (Veterinarian Practitioner), Drh. I Gede Asrama, MMA. (Head of Animal Health, Agriculture and Food Service of Badung Regency), drh. I Ketut Wirata, M.Si (Head of BBVet Denpasar).

 

 

The workshop activity began with remarks by the Dean of FVM Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si. In his speech Prof. Suartha expressed his gratitude to all the speakers who attended to provide input to FVM in this workshop. "The development and revitalization of the Faculty's Vision, Mission and MDP must be carried out regularly to evaluate whether the existing curriculum is in accordance with market needs and the times," he said. Then the activity was continued with a presentation by the resource person starting from drh. Soeharsono regarding the challenges of veterinarians as a profession moderated by drh. Romy Muhammad Dary Mufa, S.K.H., M.Si. drh. Soeharsono emphasized the role of veterinary medicine in responding to diseases that are developing in the world today, such as ASF, FMD, and Rabies, which are currently hot issues. More drh. Soeharsono added that he hoped that future veterinary graduates would be able to contribute more in dealing with global issues.

 

 

Furthermore, the presentation by Prof. Dr. Ir Gede Mahardika, M.P with the topic of Unud's Vision, Mission and Development Plan. Prof. Mahardika explained how the preparation of the Vision, Mission and Development Plan at the University level. The Vision and Mission of the University will be revealed to be the Vision, Mission of the Faculty. In addition, it was also conveyed about the Udayana University Development Plan in the future which the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Udayana hoped could follow suit.

 

 

drh. I Dewa Made Anom in his next presentation conveyed the Vision and Mission of practicing veterinarians. drh. Anom explained about the requirements to become a practicing veterinarian. He added, particularly in the development of the Udayana University Veterinary Hospital so that it can develop further and become a referral center for veterinarians throughout Bali. The development of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital FVM Unud especially from HR and Facilities can help veterinarians around Bali in conducting examinations, especially laboratory examinations such as the use of advanced diagnostic tools. In addition, by becoming a referral center, the cases obtained by students can be much more numerous and varied.

 

 

The next session was a presentation by drh. I Gede Asrama, MMA. Regarding the role and function of veterinarians in the government, moderated by drh. Putu Devi Jayanti, S.K.H., M.Sc. drh. Gede Asrama conveyed the role of a veterinarian in the government sector, especially in Badung Regency. The role of veterinarians in the government sector has been regulated by the Veterinary Authority. Especially in Badung Regency, veterinarians are in the Social Service, Fisheries Service and the Agriculture and Food Service of Badung Regency. Veterinarians are engaged in various sectors in animal health control and veterinary public health.

 

 

The last speaker is drh. I Ketut Wirata, M.Si moderated by drh. I Wayan Masa Tenaya, M. Phil, Ph.D. brought the topic of Veterinary Human Resources at BBVet Denpasar. drh. Wirata conveyed about Veterinary Medicine at the Denpasar BBVet where the Denpasar BBVet is a UPT under the Ministry of Agriculture which operates in Bali, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara. Broadly speaking, Veterinarian at BBVet Denpasar is divided into 2 areas, namely administration and laboratory technician. The distribution of veterinarian at BBVet Denpasar is mostly in the field of laboratory assistants. As a veterinary medic in the field of government, a veterinarian must have several competencies such as technical competence, managerial competence and sociocultural competence.

 

 

Whith the held of this workshop, inputs from stakeholders will be analyzed and formulated as a reference in revitalizing the vision - mission of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University as well as the basis for preparing the Master Plan for Faculty Development. "Inputs from stakeholders really help us in mapping the market and scientific knowledge needed by the community today and in the future," said Dr. drh. Ni Nyoman Werdi Susari, M.Si as the head of LDQA FVM  Unud at the end of the event.
