Jimbaran – Udayana University held a Workshop on Drafting the Rector’s Regulation on Laboratory Management on Monday, 24 November 2025, at Ruang Bangsa, Rectorate Building, Jimbaran Campus. The event was attended by university leadership, including the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance, Heads of Bureaus, Deans of Faculties, the Director of Postgraduate Programs, the Heads of LPPM and LP3M, the Director of the Business Management Agency, the Directors of Unud Hospital and RSHP Unud, Heads of Laboratory Units, the Secretary of the PTNBH Transformation Acceleration Unit, as well as the Drafting Team for the Rector’s Regulation.
The workshop featured three speakers: two experts from the Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS), Beny Cahyono, S.T., M.T., and Supriyono, and one speaker from the Denpasar Food and Drug Authority (BPOM), Drs. I Made Muliada, Apt., who also serves as the Technical Manager of the BPOM Denpasar Laboratory.
The event was officially opened by the Vice Rector for General Affairs and Finance of Udayana University, Prof. Agoes Ganesha Rahyuda, S.E., M.T., Ph.D., who emphasized in his remarks the importance of drafting a Rector’s Regulation on Laboratory Management as a binding guideline for all faculties, units, and laboratory management units within Udayana University.
According to him, the presence of a comprehensive regulation is essential to ensure quality standards in teaching, research, and public services involving laboratory facilities. “This regulation is expected to serve as a shared foundation to ensure that laboratory management at Udayana University operates professionally, safely, and in accordance with standards,” he stated.
The participation of speakers from ITS and BPOM Denpasar provided additional insights and enriched the drafting process. The speakers from ITS presented their experiences and best practices in laboratory management at ITS, including management systems, equipment maintenance mechanisms, and strategies for improving the quality of laboratory services.
Meanwhile, the speaker from BPOM Denpasar shared knowledge on testing laboratory management referring to international standards ISO/IEC 17025:2017 and WHO TRS 1052 Annex 4. This presentation provided important perspectives for the university in adopting globally recognized quality standards.
Through this workshop, the drafting process of the Rector’s Regulation on Laboratory Management is expected to produce a regulation that is applicable, comprehensive, and aligned with institutional needs. In addition, the regulation is expected to enhance laboratory governance, making it more effective, accountable, and competitive.
