Biology Study Program and CIFOR Plant Malapari Pomangia pinnata Seedlings in the Partnership Forest Area at Songan B Village Kintamani Bangli

The Biology Study Program FMIPA Unud carried out Community Service activities in the form of Planting Malapari Pomangia pinnata Seedlings at the Malapari Seed Gardens (KBS) in the Partnership Forest Area (Limited Production Forest) in Bukit Pule, Songan B Village, Kintamani District, Bangli Regency . This international scale activity is the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between FMIPA Unud and the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) and the Bukit Pule Gunung Batur Forest Farmers Group. The holding of this activity was also supported by the aNational Institute of Forest of Science (NIFoS) Republic of Korea, World Agroforestry Center (ICRAF), Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR), East Bali Forest Management Unit (KPH) Bali Provincial Forestry Service, and Batur Geopark.


The Malapari seed planting event began with remarks by the Dean of FMIPA Unud, Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, MSc.,PhD., Head of KTH Bukit Pule I Nyoman Arnaya. and the Head of the East Bali KPH, represented by the Head of the Penelokan Forest Pemangkuan Resort. The Dean of FMIPA Unud in his speech expressed his support and hopes that this excellent collaboration can continue and be improved in the future. It is also hoped that the Malapari tree seedlings planted through community service activities are properly cared for so as to provide maximum benefits to the local community. Next, Prof Dr. Ir. Budi Leksono, M.P. from the Center for Research and Development of Biotechnology and Development of Forest Plants, Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia. According to Ni Luh Arpiwi, SSi., MSc., PhD. Lecturer of the Biology Study Program, a malapari plant researcher as well as a PIC for FMIPA collaboration activities with CIFOR and KTH Bukit Pule, malapari is a multifunctional plant, including as a source of vegetable energy because its seeds produce oil for biodiesel raw materials, as animal feed, medicinal ingredients, biological fertilizers and cosmetics. Downstream research from seeds planted in KBS is to produce certified malapari seeds.


The planting of Malapari seedlings began with a symbolic planting by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences Unud, Head of KTH Bukit Pule, Dr. Himlal Baral as CIFOR representative, Head of East Bali KPH, and Daily Chair of Batur Geopark I Wayan Gobang Edy Sucipto. Subsequently, 540 seedlings were planted simultaneously on an area of 6,030 m2 in RTK7 Gunung Batur Bukit Payang by members of KTH Bukit Pule, lecturer staff and students of Undergraduate, Masters, and Doctoral Biology Study Programs, FMIPA Unud, student internship program MBKM Biology Study Program at CIFOR, staff East Bali KPH, Batur Geopark, and volunteers from Wanaphrasta Dharma Unud Nature Lovers Students and Buana Giri Mahasaraswati University Denpasar.
