PS Informatics Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences added a New Doctor in Computing Ergonomics

Tuesday, 7 March 2023 at the 3rd floor of the Hall of the Udayana University Postgraduate Building, Promovendus Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Si conducted an open doctoral promotion examination at the Udayana University Doctoral Program in Medicine. Promovendus Santiyasa's dissertation entitled "APLIKASI MODRESCRIPT BERBASIS PENDEKATAN ERGONOMI TOTAL MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS KESEHATAN DAN PRODUKTIVITAS PEMBELAJARAN PENULISAN AKSARA MODRE PADA MAHASISWA TEKNIK INFORMATIKA UNIVERSITAS UDAYANA" was promoted by Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gde Adiatmika, M.Kes, Co-promoter 1 Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Adiputra, M.OH.PFK, Co-promoter II Dr. Ir. Ida Bagus Alit Swamardika, M.Erg. IPM and tested by the head examiner Prf. Dr. dr. I Made Jawi, M.Kes, Examiner Member: Dr. Ir. Ida Bagus Alit Swamardika, M.Erg, IPM, Prof. Dr. dr. J Alex Pangkahilah, M.Sc. Sp. And (KSAAM), Prof. dr. Ketut Tirtayasa, M.S, AIF, Prof. Dr. Drs. I Made Sutajaya, M.Kes, Cokorda Rai Adi Pramartha, ST, MM, PhD

In his dissertation, Santiyasa said that the Balinese script is a form of Balinese writing culture which has 3 functions, namely: the wrreastra script for writing Balinese letters in general, the swalalita script for writing Balinese letters originating from Sanskrit and Old Javanese and the modre script used to write sacred script as in writing on ulap-ulap, rurub, kajang and rerajahan. In contrast to the Wreastra script and the Swalalita script which are written in line form so that they can be typed via the Balinese script keyboard. Unlike the two types of script, in addition to lining up modre scripts, they are also written at angles (45°, 135, 225° and 315), horizontally (90° and 270°) and some are even written upside down (180°) so that they cannot be written using Balinese script keyboard, but must be written using hand strokes. Based on this, Santiyasa created a special application to write this modre script which is designed based on a total ergonomics approach, in order to be able to create a comfortable, safe and efficient work system (ENASE). With this ENASE system, it is hoped that the quality of health and productivity of modre script writing will increase in the future. This is supported by the results of a study involving 63 respondents, which found a decrease in cognitive load by 14.6%, a decrease in muscle fatigue by 48.29%, a decrease in eye fatigue by 21.32%. Furthermore, Santiyasa stated that an ENASE work system would reduce the mental and physical workload at work which would ultimately be able to improve the quality of health for moderate script writers.

Met on the sidelines of the examiner's discussion, Dean of FMIPA Udayana University Dra. Ni Luh Watiniasih, M,Si, Ph.D said that this achievement is an honor for FMIPA and of course we thank Ida Sang Hyang Widhi Wasa, that today there will be an additional doctor at FMIPA and especially in the Informatics Study Program. This is a very valuable addition because this is a requirement that must be met both from the KPI (Main Performance Indicator) prerequisites and accreditation requirements. So far, we have always struggled to add more doctorates at FMIPA and in study programs in particular. With the addition of lecturers with doctoral degrees, we hope of course that whatever requires the number of lecturers with doctoral degrees will no longer be a problem. With the new knowledge produced by Doctor I Wayan Santiyasa, we hope that program development and preservation of local Balinese culture, in this case especially the Modre script developed, can also support local and national government policies.

Eka Kusumayanti, the elsest daughter of Santiyasa with a happy smile, said that the family was very proud of Dr. Santiyasa. Even though at a relatively young age, in the midst of a busy life at the office, Mr. was able to finish his studies on time and earned a cum laude predicate. Eka's hope for Dr. Santiyasa hopes that you will be more successful and continue to produce brilliant ideas that are useful for Udayana University.

Promoter 1 in his speech expressed his gratitude and pride to Dr. Santiyasa. Adiatmika said Santiyasa is a lecturer and also a Jero Mangku (Monk in Balinese Hinduism). Moving on from the experiences and problems that existed in his role as a Jero Mangku, this dissertation was produced. Of course, what is currently being produced is not the end, but the beginning of further challenges. Total Ergonomics emphasizes that all problems must be studied in various aspects. The next challenge is how to bring what has been produced to the international world. Adiatmika asked Santiyasa to prepare himself so that he could publish in 2024 at an international seminar in Korea. The findings that have been produced can be donated to study programs or universities.
