Develop Applications To Reduce Fatigue and Increase Productivity Learning Writing Modre, I Wayan Santiyasa Earns Doctoral Degree in Medical Sciences

Located in the Postgraduate Meeting Room Lt III, Denpasar Postgraduate Building, a Doctoral Promotion examination was held with promovendus candidate Drs. I Wayan Santiyasa, M.Sc., with the dissertation title "Modrescript Application Based on Total Ergonomics Approach to Improve Health Quality and Productivity of Learning Modre Writing for Informatics Engineering Students at Udayana University". (6/3/2023)

Modre script writing patterns that are not only lined up, but also written in horizontal (ngandang), upside down (nyungsang) and angled positions, are impossible to type using the keyboard and must be written directly with hand strokes with the help of the SmoothDraw application. Unfortunately, the available commands are layered in menus and sub-menus, so it requires adaptation in memorizing them. Cognitively, humans have limitations in memorizing layered commands, so this condition creates a cognitive load, especially extraneous cognitive load. Searching for layered commands also requires more visual focus so that it can cause eye fatigue. Besides that, the work of writing hands puts static pressure on the hand muscles, causing hand muscle complaints in modre script writers. In this study, the problems that occur in writing modre characters were intervened using the ModreScript application with a total ergonomics approach.

The results obtained from this study through statistical tests using independent sample t-test cumulative cognitive load before working in both the control group and the treatment group were not significantly different. Meanwhile, after working for 150 minutes using the SmoothDraw application for the Control Group and the ModreScript application for the Treatment Group, there was a decrease in the cumulative cognitive load of 14.60%. By using the questionnaire 26 Hand Muscle Complaints with a Likert Scale, it was found that there was a significant decrease in hand muscle complaints by 48.29% when using the ModreScript application. Meanwhile, the eye fatigue experienced by the subject after working on writing modre script significantly decreased by 43.43%.

The development of a new science (novelty) from this research is a new application, namely ModreScript based on a total ergonomics approach which is able to reduce cognitive load, hand muscle complaints and eye fatigue in writing modre characters in making magic tricks. To the best of the researcher's knowledge, there has been no research on writing application development research using a total ergonomics approach so that ENASE is used so that it can improve the quality of health and productivity of its users.

The implications of implementing the ModreScript application in writing modre script make writing modre script interesting so as to increase the interest of the younger generation to pursue the job of writing modre script in order to preserve the culture which is very vital in the beliefs of the Balinese people. This research can prove that implementing the ModreScript application is able to reduce work time in making magic tricks so that work productivity increases.
