TCI Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University Facilitates Five Students to Join Student Exchange Program in China

Denpasar, Indonesia – The Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, a collaborative institution between Udayana University and several universities in China, has facilitated the 2025 Udayana University Student Exchange Program as a manifestation of strengthening educational and cultural cooperation between Indonesia and China. Through this program, five students from Udayana University have been sent to take part in the Summer Camp at Xiamen University, China.

The Xiamen University International Student Cultural Summer Camp 2025 serves as a prestigious platform that brings together young people from around the world to foster international friendship through education, culture, and people-to-people diplomacy. It offers an ideal environment for enhancing global insight while also reinforcing national cultural identity among the participants.

Carrying the spirit of cross-cultural exchange, this program offers Udayana students a golden opportunity not only to study abroad but also to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Bali on an international stage.

The five students representing Udayana University in this program are I Kadek Wijaya Kusuma Putra (Faculty of Medicine), Putu Angelita Monarki Wiranta (Faculty of Tourism), I Putu Marcellinus Yahya Kurnia Pratama (Faculty of Tourism), Komang Arya Andika Wandira Kusuma (Faculty of Tourism), and I Wayan Eka Swartama (Faculty of Engineering).

This program was initiated by the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Denpasar and took place from July 1 to July 10, 2025, gathering 105 participants from 25 countries across multiple continents.

During the exchange program, Udayana University’s student delegates actively participated in all scheduled activities while also proudly introducing Balinese culture to international participants and the academic community of Xiamen University. The cultural showcase included traditional Balinese attire (Endek) worn during the closing ceremony, along with a Janger dance performance and a rendition of the Balinese song “Ketut Garing”, leaving a strong impression among attendees.

Throughout the event, the students engaged in both academic sessions and cultural excursions, gaining valuable insights into Chinese history, traditions, customs, and educational practices, particularly within the community of Xiamen, Fujian Province. Exciting activities included Round Fan Making, Chinese Calligraphy, Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, as well as visits to iconic sites like Gulangyu Island, which they likened to a “Chinese version of Nusa Penida.”

The participation of Udayana students in this international program is also a clear demonstration of the university’s commitment to campus internationalization and aligns with the national strategy of Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM). These students not only served as learners but also as cultural ambassadors, bridging local values with global contexts. The experience is expected to have a long-term impact on the quality and global competitiveness of Udayana University graduates.
