Udayana University Rector Confers Degrees to 1,081 Graduates at the 168th Graduation Ceremony, with One Diploma Handed Over to a Graduate’s Parent

Jimbaran – Udayana University (Unud) held an Academic Ceremony for its 168th Graduation at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus, on Saturday (June 21, 2025).
A total of 1,081 graduates were conferred degrees at the event, bringing the total number of Udayana University alumni to 129,719. Based on educational level, the graduates consisted of 27 Doctoral (Ph.D.) graduates, 72 Master’s, 35 Specialist, 207 Professional, and 740 Bachelor’s degree graduates. Among them, 675 graduates received the "With Honors" or Cum Laude distinction.

During this graduation ceremony, a special and emotional moment occurred when the diploma of a graduate from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) who had passed away was presented directly to the student's parent. In another heartfelt gesture, a graduate from the Faculty of Engineering who uses a wheelchair received their diploma directly from the Rector and Dean, who stepped down from the stage to personally present it.

Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU, reported that this batch of graduates was predominantly female, with 669 women compared to 412 men. In terms of academic performance, the average GPA of female graduates was 3.83, slightly higher than their male counterparts at 3.80. Female graduates also completed their studies faster, with an average study period of 7.56 semesters, compared to 7.97 semesters for male graduates.

The Vice-Rector expressed his gratitude to the families of the graduates for entrusting Udayana University with their children's higher education.

“We hope that through the education you have received, you not only master academic knowledge but also embody intelligent living, prioritizing good character in your work and social lives, while continuing to show dedication, innovation, and collaboration—these are the keys to your future success,” said Prof. Rai.

He also encouraged all graduates to participate in the university’s online tracer study to provide valuable feedback that will help improve and develop Udayana University’s academic and administrative systems, teaching methods, and facilities.

Udayana University Rector, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D, in his address, congratulated all graduates for successfully completing their studies.

“Your success is the result of your hard work. I am certain that throughout your academic journey, you have faced many challenges and obstacles. Therefore, I express my pride in your achievements and perseverance,” said the Rector.

He emphasized that graduation marks the final academic event in a student's formal education at a university, symbolizing the official completion of a certain educational level. It also reflects Udayana University’s responsibility to the nation in preparing high-quality, globally competitive human resources.

The Rector reminded graduates that graduation is not the end, but the beginning of new challenges in life. As alumni, they represent Udayana University in society, and their behavior will reflect on the institution. He urged them to uphold the university’s good name by thinking, speaking, and acting positively. Graduates are also expected to apply their knowledge responsibly and professionally in their respective careers for the betterment of society, the nation, and the country.

In a speech on behalf of the graduates, Yosefine Rejeki Marpaung reflected on the journey at Udayana University, noting that it was far from easy. She shared that while there was joy and laughter during group discussions, there were also tears in silence during moments of failure.

“From all of this, we learned that the process never betrays the result, and today’s graduation is living proof of the perseverance we have fought for,” she said, expressing gratitude to the lecturers, staff, and parents who supported their journey.
