Udayana University Holds SENASTEK 2025, Featuring National Experts and Industry Partners

Jimbaran – Udayana University, through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), organized the 2025 National Seminar on Science and Technology (SENASTEK), held on Wednesday, 26 November 2025, at the Theatre Room of the Lecture Building, Udayana University Jimbaran. This annual national-scale event brought together thousands of participants from various institutions, including researchers, lecturers, students, and industry partners.

The event began with a report from the Head of LPPM Unud, Prof. I Nyoman Suartha, followed by an official opening by the Rector of Udayana University. The seminar was also attended by the Vice Rectors, Deans and the Director of the Postgraduate School, the Head of SPI, Heads and Secretaries of Institutes, leaders of UPT and USDI, as well as invited guests from academia and industry.

SENASTEK 2025 carries the theme “Science and Technology for National Self-Reliance: From Research to Commercialization.” This theme reflects the university’s commitment to strengthening research downstreaming and fostering the development of a national innovation ecosystem. This year, the event was joined by 1,000 researchers and community service practitioners who presented their latest scientific works and innovations in science, technology, and other multidisciplinary fields.

The main seminar session featured three prominent figures in national research and innovation:

  • Prof. Dr. Wisnu Adi, Head of the Advanced Materials Research Group at BRIN

  • Prof. Dr-Eng. Made Joni, M.Sc, Head of the Center of Excellence for Science and Technology and Founder of U-CoE UNPAD

  • Willy D. Liusan, CEO of PT Alam Bali Mandiri, representing the Startup for Industry Association

The speakers presented perspectives on strengthening the national research ecosystem, strategies for innovation commercialization, opportunities for university–industry collaboration, and challenges in developing advanced technology in Indonesia.

In his remarks, Rector of Udayana University, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., emphasized that universities have both moral and academic responsibility to produce research that is not only scientifically relevant but also provides real impact for society.

“Udayana University plays an important role in driving social change, strengthening energy, food, and health resilience, and supporting the achievement of the SDGs. We are now entering a new era: the era of research downstreaming. Therefore, partnerships with BRIN, industry, startups, regional governments, and the business sector must continue to be strengthened,” he said.

SENASTEK 2025 is held over two days. The first day includes the opening ceremony and main seminar, while the second day is filled with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) themed Business and Collaboration Talk. This FGD session involves various strategic sectors, including pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, deep-tech, and social innovation, aiming to bridge academic research with industry and community needs.

With this comprehensive series of activities, SENASTEK 2025 is expected to strengthen research networks, promote cross-sector collaboration, and accelerate the commercialization of innovations toward national self-reliance.
