Timor Leste Human Resources Participate in Seed Processing Training at Udayana University

The Faculty of Agriculture, Udayana University (Unud), through the Dryland Agriculture Masters Study Program in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste held the Opening of the International Training of Production Seed Processing, Seed Quality Analysis and Certification of Food Crops and Horticulture at the Agrocomplex Building, Unud Sudirman Campus, Denpasar. Thursday, (27/4/23). This training was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU and was attended by leaders and staff from the Faculty of Agriculture, as well as from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste.

Chairman of the Committee Dr. Ir. Gede Wijana, MS, in his report said that training on an international scale in seed processing or seeding systems started with production, quality analysis, and certification of food plant and horticultural seeds which was carried out for eleven staff from the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor Leste, which is likely to be held in the future. the second stage, bearing in mind that there are still many human resources who need to increase their knowledge in this field. The training which lasted for ten days from 24 April to 3 May 20023 was a follow-up to the collaboration between the two parties, which had been carried out in previous years, where in 2019 basic training was carried out in cultivating food crops and horticulture.

Furthermore, in 2022, he will be entrusted again to produce guidelines for tiling techniques and tile data analysis to predict the volume of horticultural crop production in Timor Leste, and this month training will be carried out and a seed system will be implemented in Timor Leste. The training that was carried out also involved the Bali Province Food Crops Agriculture Office for a collaboration permit with the Bali Province Horticultural Food Crops and Plantation Certification Monitoring Center.

From the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries of Timor, Leste Gil Rangel Da Cruz as Chairperson expressed his gratitude for the cooperation that has existed so far. Many human resources in Timor Leste who occupy important posts in the current government are graduates of Udayana University. Through the implementation of this training, it is hoped that the human resources sent at this stage will be able to learn all the materials related to the training provided to later be developed and have a new hatchery system in Timor Leste. With this training, it is hoped that all participants will be able to see the best ways to be implemented in the future in Timor Leste.

Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU expressed his gratitude to the Timor Leste Government which until now still trusts Unud as a forum for collaboration, especially in the field of increasing human resources, both in the horticulture and other fields. Seed processing is one part of our efforts to increase the production and productivity of agricultural products so that their contribution to human life and the environment will be ensured. Therefore, in the process of honesty is a major factor. Through this training, it is hoped that it will equip ladies and gentlemen in Timor Leste how to increase production and productivity.
