Udayana University Helps West Sumatra Provincial Government Develop Tourism Areas

Udayana University (Unud) began collaborating with the Provincial Government of West Sumatra (Pemprov West Sumatra) through the signing of the Joint Agreement which took place on Friday (10/2/23), located in the Language Room of the Rectorate Building, Bukit Jimbaran Campus. The signing ceremony was attended by the Rector of Udayana University who on this occasion was represented by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes and attended by Dr. I Wayan Suardana, SST.Par.,M.Par (Dean of the Faculty of Tourism), Prof. Dr. drh. I Nyoman Suarsana, M.Si (Head of LPPM), Ir. A A. Putu Agung Suryawan Wiranatha, M.Sc., Ph.D (Coordinator of the Tourism Science and Technology Excellence Center), Putri Kusuma Sanjiwani, SH., MH (Cooperation Team of the Faculty of Tourism), and from the West Sumatra Provincial Government, Vice Governor dr. Ir. Audy Joinaldy, S.Pt.,M.Sc.,MM.,IPM.,ASEAN.Eng along with the SKPD Team.

Prof. Adiatmika took this opportunity to convey that it is an honor to be able to cooperate with the Provincial Government of West Sumatra in order to support the programs that have been designed by the Governor and Vice Governor of West Sumatra Province related to tourism development, especially the development of the Mentawai Islands. With the human resources that Unud has in the field of tourism through the tourism science and technology center of excellence, and through the Faculty of Tourism both bachelor, master and doctoral degrees Unud will support the development of tourism with a scientific approach, so that the programs developed are in accordance with the circumstances and conditions that exist in West Sumatra will be able to build sustainable tourism.

Meanwhile, the Vice Governor of West Sumatra, Audy Joinaldy, expressed his appreciation to Udayana University for accepting the entourage in the signing of a memorandum of understanding as well as friendship between the Provincial Government of West Sumatra and Unud. He also conveyed that the big concept in this activity was Udayana University which had helped develop tourism in West Sumatra in the sense of helping to develop many things such as Human Resources (HR) and the Masterplan, where one of the Regencies in West Sumatra, namely the Mentawai Islands, had the most tourists from other countries. Australia is the same as in Bali.

With this collaboration, it is hoped that later it will be able to attract Australian tourists in Bali to come to the Mentawai Islands. "This PKS is indeed focused on developing tourism by involving Unud which has an academic basis," said the Vice Governor.
