Udayana University Attends Higher Education Ecosystem Integrity Strengthening Forum

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of the Republic of Indonesia held a Forum for Strengthening Higher Education Ecosystem Integrity which took place in a hybrid manner which took place at The Alana Yogyakarta, and was opened by the Chairperson of the Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission Firli Bahuri, Tuesday (15/11/2022).

Udayana University in this activity was attended directly by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information Prof. Dr. dr. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, M.Kes who in this case represents the Rector of Udayana University. Meanwhile the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU with the Head of SPI Dr. Drs. Dewa Gede Wirama, MSBA.,AK.,CA, Head of LP3M Ir. I Nengah Sujaya, M.Agr.,Sc.Ph.D. and Head of BAKH Drs. I Gusti Ngurah Indra Kecapa, M.Ed participated in this activity online through a Zoom Meeting.

The Deputy for Education and Community Participation of the KPK RI, Wawan Wardiana in his report conveyed that the Forum for Strengthening Higher Education Ecosystem Integrity for PTN and PTKN leaders is one form of implementation of the strategy carried out by the KPK, namely prosecution, prevention and education. Particularly what was done at this time is the educational strategy. This forum aims to generate KPK cooperation with PTN and PTKN leaders in encouraging the establishment of integrity and an anti-corruption ecosystem in tertiary institutions and it is also at the same time the KPK's obligation to remind PTN and PTKN leaders as administrators of the state.

On November 1, 2022, the KPK facilitated a forum for discussion regarding the formulation of action plans and declarations of strengthening the integrity of PTN and PTKM which were initiated by 5 Association Chairs or Rectors and Professors Forums, and 7 Rectors representing PTN and PTKN who are expected to represent goals and interests all PTKN and PTN in Indonesia to build an anti-corruption culture in universities. The results of the discussion were then finalized on November 14 2022 at this place also by the working group, and today they were conveyed to the leadership of the KPK, the Ministry of Religion and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology, then they will be implemented by all PTN and PTKN especially those present today.

The number of participants registered in this activity was 149 people, 73 people attended offline and 76 people online via Zoom meeting representing 92 PTN and PTKN from all over Indonesia.

This forum discussed two matters which were divided into two sessions related to strengthening the integrity of higher education institutions with sources from the KPK, Ministry of Religion and Ministry of Education and Culture. Then also from BAN PT, anti-corruption practitioners or experts, Academics, Governance and Public Policy Experts, and senior Advisors. This forum also presented a guest speaker from Griffith University, Australia A.J Brown.

Through the implementation of this activity, the KPK hopes that together with the working group and all PTN and PTKN Rectors will jointly follow up on the declarations and action plans that have been prepared and agreed upon to build higher education institutions that are increasingly integrated and free from corruption.

The declaration was read by Prof. Dr. Jamal Wiwoho represents the Working Group where there are three commitments in leading universities with 12 action plans to strengthen the higher education ecosystem. The Action Plan and Declaration were then submitted to the Chairman of the RI KPK.

The Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Committee of the Republic of Indonesia, Firli Bahuri, in his briefing, conveyed that there are four important roles for the Chancellor, namely education and education, realizing state goals, educating the nation's life, and forming intelligent human resources. The chairman of the KPK also shared 8 tips for higher education leaders so that corruption does not occur.

While Minister Nadiem Makarim in his direction said that apart from handling cases and law enforcement, we must intensify efforts to prevent corruption so that corruption does not occur in the future, character education based on Pancasila values ​​is one of the efforts to prevent corruption that we must encourage together, especially in the university environment.
