JUPI Unud Holds Mendeley, Turnitin, and Paraphrase Technique Training for Academic Writing

Journal and Scientific Publication Unit (JUPI) Unud held “Mendeley, Turnitin and Paraphrase Technique Training for Academic Writing” online via Webex Meeting, Thursday (17/6/2021).

The training was opened by the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng., presenting three speakers: (1) Made Adityanandana, SE., MA., Lecturer of Agribusiness Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Unud, talking about "Mendeley Reference Management"; (2) Ayu Aryista Dewi, S.E., M.Acc. Ak.,CA, Managing Editor of Udayana University Accounting E-Journal (SINTA 2) talks about “Turnitin Anti Plagiarism Application”; (3) Prof. I Nyoman Darma Putra, M.Litt, Chief Editor of the Journal of Bali Studies (Journal of Bali Studies) Udayana University (SINTA 2), spoke about “Paraphrasing Techniques for Academic Writing”.

The event was moderated by Dr. Ni Ketut Arismayanti, SSP.Par, M.Par. Invitations from Koprodi, lecturers, students of Udayana University, and the manager of Unud Journal. There were several participants from universities outside Unud: Unhi, Undiknas, ISI and UPN Veterans of East Java. The number of participants who attended was 313 people.

The Head of the Executive Committee, as well as the Head of the JUPI Unit, Ir. Ni Made Ary Esta Dewi Wirastuti, ST., MSc., PhD., IPM., said that the purpose of this activity was to deepen the understanding and practice of writing intelligent scientific papers for lecturers and students, by utilizing the Mendeley and Turnitin applications, as well as using paraphrasing techniques that appropriate and correct to follow up Turnitin results. For journal managers, the aim is to strengthen the substance of the journal in order to upgrade the accreditation of the journal's reputation. It is hoped that this training will be useful for all participants who attend as an effort to realize quality written works supported by the use of writing/research support applications, and of course by using the right paraphase technique for writing correct references to avoid plagiarism practices.
