Arnold Christian Tabun Wins Doctoral Degree in Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University, has again given birth to a Doctor in the field of Animal Husbandry, Arnold Christian Tabun is a Lecturer at the Animal Husbandry Department of the Kupang State Agricultural Polytechnic, through an open doctoral promotion examination led by the Chair of the Session, Coordinator of the Doctoral Study Program in Animal Husbandry, Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University Prof. Dr. Ir. Ni Nyoman Suryani, M.Si (Friday, 18 November 2022).

The Promoter Team consists of Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gst. Mrs. Gde. Bidura, MS., IPU., ASEAN Eng., Dr. drh. I Gusti Agung Arta Putra, M.Sc., and Dr. Ir. Dewi Ayu Warmadewi, S.Pt., M.Sc., IPM. Today's Doctoral Promotion presents 6 supporting lecturers and 4 invited academic lecturers from the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Udayana University. The dissertation that was successfully defended was entitled “Performance and Polymorphism of Growth Genes for Calves and Bali Cattle with Abnormal Coat Color in Kupang”.

The results of the dissertation research obtained a novelty that found the same growth performance between calves and brood of bali cattle with black and white coat color and calves and brood of reddish brown bali cattle; found polymorphism in the GH and IGF2 genes from bulls and bali cattle with abnormal coat color in Kupang; found an association between the GH and IGF2 gene SNPs on body weight gain of calves and Bali cattle with abnormalities in coat color in Kupang.” said Arnold Christian Tabun. The aim of this research was to evaluate the growth performance and polymorphisms of the GH and IGH2 genes in calves and female Bali cattle with hair disorders in Kupang.
