Accounting Study Program (PSA) of Faculty of Economy of Udayana University (FE Unud) was established in 1983. Since the establishment to 1988, PSA was affiliated under the guidance of PSA of Faculty of Economy of Udayana University. With consistent and tireless efforts under the leadership of the Dean of FE Unud, Mrs. Dra. Komang Rastini and considering the needs for experts in accounting, particularly in Bali Province, it was considered necessary to have Accounting Study Program. Finally, based on the Decree of Directorate General of Higher Education of Department of Education and Culture of Republic of Indonesia (Dirjen Dikti Depdikbud RI) in 1989 Number: 66/DIKTI/Kep/1989, dated 22 July 1989, the Establishment of Accounting Study Program in the Faculty of Economy of Udayana University was implemented. 
Afterward, based on the result of evaluations and decision of Minister of Education and Culture Number 0686/U/1991 Article 17 clause (3) on adding departments stipulated by Dirjen Dikti Depdikbud RI, Dirjen Dikti Depdikbud RI published Decree Number: 26/Dikti/Kep/1994 dated 28 January 1994 regarding the establishment of Department of Accounting in the Faculty of Economy of Udayana University. However, to get the title of “Accountant” PSA graduates must join National Accountancy Examinations (UNA). PSA officially became a Department of Accounting free from National Accountancy Examinations with Decree of Dirjen Dikti Depdikbud RI Number: 2755/D/T/1995, dated 6 October 1995. The license to conduct university Tri dharma operations/activities of PSA FE Unud is Decree of Operational Extension License of the Rector of Udayana University Number: 9458/D/T/KN/2011 dated 4 November 2011 which is in effect until 4 November 2015. Today, the Undegraduate Accounting Study Program of FE Unud has “A” accreditation based on the decision of National Accreditation Board for Higher Education of Department of National Education of Republic of Indonesia No.005/BAN-PT/Ak-XIII/S1/VI/2010 dated 04 June 2010. The validity period of accreditation is until 04 June 2015.
PSA determines concentrations based on course category. The course categories are financial accounting, auditing, management accounting, public sector accounting, Accounting Information System, and Taxation,

 

Vision Mission of Accounting

The vision of PSA is derived from the visions of Udayana University and Faculty of Economy and Business of Unud. The vision of Udayana University is: “Realizing a higher education institution which produces excellent, independent and cultured human resources” Meanwhile, the vision of FEB Unud is. “Making Faculty of Economy and Business of Udayana University a higher education institution which produces excellent, independent, and cultured human resources in the fields of economy and business in Southeast Asia in 2020”. Based on the visions of Unud and FEB Unud, the vision of PSA is”
 “Realizing Accounting Study Program of Faculty of Economy and Business of Udayana University yang which produces excellent, independent, and cultured human resources in the field of accounting it Southeast Asian Level in 2020”. 

Below are the descriptions of several keywords of the vision. 

  1. Excellent means PSA consciously produces nationally and internationally competitive human resources. With these advantages, PSA is directed toward being a leading undergraduate accounting education institution, particularly in the fields of education, research, and community service. One of the advantages is applied in hotel accounting and Village Credit Institution (LPD) accounting courses which are local contents and can give advantage compared with other accounting study programs.
  2. Independent means all human resources produced by PSA are resilient, confident, and smart, thus able to compete and improve their quality independently. 
  3. Cultured means all resources produced can uphold universal local cultural values in the implementation of University Tridharma. Universal local wisdoms are implemented in attitudes such as arjawa (honest), brahmacari (diligent in studying), krtajahita (not hesitating to apologize if making mistakes), nismakrama (not putting oneself first) and tri kaya parisudha (oneness of good thoughts, words, and actions). Therefore PSA is expected to produce intellectual intelligence, emotional intelligence, social intelligence, and spiritual intelligence.

The vision of PSA is a long-term reference at practical level. As a long-term reference, the vision of PSAis the direction and general guidance for all ranks of the organization in PSA to produce excellent, independent, and cultured graduates in the field of accounting. This vision is the basis of forming purposes, goals and development strategies of PSA in the future. Due to the importance of the vision of PSA, all academicians and all stakeholders must be aware, understand, live up to, and commit to the vision which has been agreed upon. Therefore, the vision of PSA must be socialized to all stakeholders.

The vision of PSA will be realized if there is mission which supports the realization of the vision. The mission PSA is “improving the quantity and quality of education, research, and community in the field of accounting effectively, efficiently, and relevantly”.
