Opening of the Mandarin Language Class by TCI at Udayana University: Unud’s Support for KIP-Kuliah Scholarship Recipients

Udayana University, through the Tourism Confucius Institute (TCI) of the Faculty of Tourism, officially launched the Mandarin Language Class for KIP-Kuliah scholarship recipients on Wednesday (September 17, 2025). The opening event began with a welcome speech from the Head of the Tourism Confucius Institute, followed by an introduction to TCI by the Director of TCI Indonesia at the Faculty of Tourism, Udayana University, Dr. I Gusti Ngurah Widyatmaja. The next session featured an introduction to the Mandarin language delivered by native Chinese instructor, Ms. Tu Na, as an initial orientation before the formal learning sessions begin.

This course program is attended by 348 KIP-Kuliah scholarship recipients from various faculties within Udayana University. All participants have the opportunity to learn for free with native instructors using English as the medium of instruction. This initiative is expected to broaden the students' horizons and enhance their competencies, particularly in facing global challenges. As a form of appreciation, the top ten participants will receive subsidies to take the HSK exam, thereby encouraging motivation and achievement among students in mastering the Mandarin language.

Through this activity, Udayana University reaffirms its commitment to supporting the capacity development of KIP-Kuliah recipients so that they can be more competitive on an international level. Foreign language training, particularly Mandarin, which is increasingly in demand in both academic and professional contexts, is expected to serve as a valuable asset for students in unlocking greater opportunities in future studies, research, and careers.
