Food Technology Students from Udayana University Win Gold Medal at Bali International Science Fair (BISF) 2025

Students from the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University, have won a Gold Medal at the Bali International Science Fair (BISF) 2025, organized by the Indonesia Young Scientist Association (IYSA). This prestigious competition was held online on June 11, 2025, and was attended by hundreds of participants from various countries.

The representative team comprising Putu Wedananta Darma Wiguna, Putu Cempaka Sekar Hita, Made Dita Dewi Devani, Kunti Dewi Dhasi Aryawan, Ida Ayu Tisna Wahyuniari, and I Gusti Agung Bulan Mutiara Dewi are 2022 batch students of the Food Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University. Under the guidance of lecturer Ir. I Gede Arie Mahendra Putra, S.TP., M.TP., IPM, they presented a functional food innovation titled OKISS (Innovation of Gluten Free-Casein Free Cookies Made from Arrowroot Starch and Okara Flour as Functional Food).

This product combines arrowroot starch and okara (tofu pulp) as the main ingredients in making gluten-free and casein-free cookies, specifically intended for individuals with autism and certain food intolerances. The innovation received high praise from international judges for its usefulness and sustainable approach to food waste utilization.

This achievement reflects the passion, creativity, and social awareness of Food Technology students toward health and sustainability issues, as well as their commitment to producing impactful food innovations for the community.
