Active Vaccination of Food and Mouth Diseases (FMD) in Singapadu Village in Collaboration with Students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University and the Gianyar Regency Agriculture Office

 

Students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Udayana University and Community Service Program/Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) PPM students at Udayana University for the 2022 period participated in the implementation of the Foot and Mouth Nail Disease (FMD) vaccination which was carried out in stages in Singapadu Village, Gianyar Regency on Sunday (24/7). This vaccination is one of the collaborative actions between students of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University, KKN students of Udayana University who work in Singapadu Village and the Gianyar Regency Agriculture Office to prevent the spread of Foot and Mouth Diseases in Indonesia.

 

 

This FMD vaccination was carried out together with the Gianyar Regency Agriculture Office, represented by drh. I Nyoman Arya Dharma as Head of UPTD PUSKESWAN Region III Kab. Gianyar, and this activity was guided by the village government, which was attended by Ni Wayan Suparti. S.E. as Secretary of Singapadu Village. This vaccination activity is expected to help reduce the number of FMD cases that attack livestock in Indonesia, especially in Gianyar Regency. In addition, this activity can also increase the level of knowledge of farmers on understanding the spread of the FMD virus.

Vaccination was carried out in 3 banjars in Singapadu Village, namely Banjar Seseh, Banjar Kebon, and Banjar Apuan which began with a participant briefing. In one day in Singapadu Village, a total of 22 cows have been vaccinated, 2 in Banjar Seseh, 20 in Banjar Apuan, and 2 in Banjar Kebon.

The implementation of this vaccination was welcomed by the farmers, of course they felt helped by the provision of free FMD vaccination, and gained knowledge related to FMD. In addition, this activity also has a positive impact on volunteers who are students from the Udayana University FVM, as well as from Udayana University KKN students because from this activity the volunteers convey that they feel they are participating in learning in self-development. Udayana University KKN students who participated also felt helped and had the opportunity to be able to include this vaccination activity into the assistance program included in the KKN’s work program for the 2022 period of Udayana University. This series of FMD vaccinations will be continued thoroughly in other villages in Gianyar Regency.
