Udayana University Inaugurated Professors at the Beginning of the Year, Now Has 175 Permanent Professors

Jimbaran - Udayana University held the Inauguration of Permanent Professors which took place in a hybrid combination of online and offline from the Widya Sabha Auditorium Building, Jimbaran Campus, Saturday (29/1/2022). Also present at the event were the Vice Governor of Bali. There should have been six professors who were inaugurated, but one of them had passed away, namely Prof. Dr. Ir. Sri Mulyani, MP from the Faculty of Agricultural Technology so that five people attended the inauguration directly.

The five professors are (1) Prof. Dr. dr. I Dewa Made Sukrama, M.Sc., Sp.MK(K) as Professor in the field of Clinical Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine with the title Scientific Oration: "The Role of Clinical Microbiology in Hospitals in Efforts to Control and Prevent Nosocomial Infections"; (2) Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Anom Purbawangsa, S.E.,M.M as Professor in the field of Financial Management at the Faculty of Economics and Business with the title Scientific Oration: "Implementation of Catur Purusa Artha in LPD Management in Bali"; (3) Prof. Dr. Tjokorda Gde Raka Sukawati, S.E.,M.M as Professor in the field of Management Science at the Faculty of Economics and Business with the title Scientific Oration: "Marketing in the Tri Hita Karana Perspective Beyond Happiness Oriented Satisfaction"; (4) Prof. dr. I Md. Ady Wirawan, S.Ked.,M.P.H.,Ph.D. as Professor of Public Health Sciences at the Faculty of Medicine with the title of Scientific Oration: “Health Tourism: An Integrative Approach to Strengthening Global Health Security”; and (5) Prof. Dr. I Wayan Budiasa, S.P., M.P as Professor in Agricultural Economics at the Faculty of Agriculture with the title Scientific Oration: "Innovation, Diversification, Integration, and Optimization of Agricultural Systems for Sustainable Agricultural Development".

Rector of Udayana University Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng.,IPU in his speech said that the rapid changes in science and technology require us to be ready to face world changes, especially in the field of education. One of these changes is Society 5.0. Udayana University's steps in improving the quality of human resources to support Era Society 5.0 by encouraging and continuing to motivate all lecturers who have met the requirements to become Professors. With the addition of these five permanent professors, we now have 175 permanent professors (13% of 1,360 civil servant lecturers) spread across 11 faculties of 13 faculties within Udayana University. The ratio has exceeded the minimum limit that must be owned by a university. Currently, there are 418 Head Lectors who will be pushed to Professors, and we have improved the management of professor proposals and the Credit Score Assessment Team, making it easier for proposals to professors and faster.

Starting this year, we will form a Professor Forum consisting of all professors within the Udayana University, with the hope that it will provide benefits in the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education. Hopefully this Professors Forum will soon be able to collaborate, contribute and coordinate with the Rector so that what is a common goal can be done. This forum is also expected to provide input to university leaders regarding academic and non-academic matters to advance Udayana University.

The Rector hopes that the professors who have been inaugurated will be able to carry out their duties as well as possible, be role models, be able to protect and provide solutions to problems that arise in society through their knowledge to advance this nation and country. The new professors are also expected to motivate juniors and colleagues to achieve this highest degree in an effort to increase the number of excellent human resources at this beloved university, so that they are able to compete not only on the national level but also at the international level.
