BIPAS UNUD Program provided Orientation for 240 Students from 15 Countries

Denpasar - Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Udayana University held Student Orientation Program BIPAS, Tuesday (05/09/2017) at Auditorium Widya Sabha Mandala FIB Denpasar. The Bali International Program on Asian Studies (BIPAS) was established in 2009 for the cooperation of FIB Unud with Asia Exchange that aimed at internationalizing the programs which owned by FIB Unud. BIPAS Program organizes learning for foreign students who need a credit known as credit earning that is recognized in the origin University of the students. The BIPAS Program Orientation was attended by 240 students from 15 countries, including Germany, Finland, Sweden, France, Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, America, Russia, Turkey, Italy, Denmark, Australia and Singapore. The learning system used integrating learning in the classroom and outside the classroom through lecture, discussion and workshop and cultural visits. It attracts foreign students and universities who send these students in learning about mix local students and foreign students in one subject of Social and Cultural Harmony in the same class.

The orientation will last for two days from September 5-6, 2017 with focus on academic and non academic problems that related to lectures at Udayana University and life on the island of Bali. Topics brought in the orientation include Cultural Diversity in Indonesia by the Director General of Culture Ministry of Education and Culture, Dr. Hilmar Farid, History of Unud, Education Nowadays, and Facilities by Head of International Office, Basic Fact of Bali and Practical Information. Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Beratha, MA, Sharing with Asia Exchange and Tropical Disease by Dr. Tony Gosal from KYOWAI Hospital.

Dean of FIB Unud, Prof. Dr. Ni Luh Sutjiati Beratha, MA in her speech delivered welcome to BIPAS Student. Further Prof. Sutjiati said that the Faculty of Cultural Sciences has run the best international program which are resulted from feedback and input from Director of Europian University and also Asian Exchange and supported by existing facilities. Through this activity Prof. Sutjiati hopes that students can share experiences, knowledge and adapt to local culture.

Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra, SH., M.Hum in his opening speech stated that Founder of Udayana University has adopted culture as "Grand Design" from science development at Unud. Further Prof. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra conveyed that culture is one important component that is closely related to the pattern of human life. Learning about culture gives us an understanding of the various expressions of life. Through this opportunity Prof. Ida Bagus Wyasa Putra also expressed appreciation from the Rector of Udayana University to the students who have chosen Udayana University as a destination to learn the culture of Bali.
