Udayana University Becomes One of the Partner Institutions for the PDDI Scholarship 2025
Badung – Udayana University (Unud) participated in the Signing Ceremony of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) for the 2025 Indonesian Lecturer Doctoral Program Scholarship (PDDI) (Regional II), organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology through the Center for Higher Education Financing and Assessment (PPAPT). The agenda of the PKS signing included explanations of the disbursement mechanism and educational costs, signing of the cooperation agreement, and confirmation of registration data for scholarship recipients. This event was attended by leaders from various universities and took place at HARRIS Hotel & Residences Riverview Kuta, Bali, on Tuesday (September 16, 2025).
The event was opened by the Head of Higher Education Financing Services at PPAPT, Septien Prima Diassari. In her speech, she stated that the PDDI scholarship program is a new nomenclature, previously known as the Indonesia Education Program. Over the past 4 to 5 years, the program has covered various targets, ranging from teachers, lecturers, cultural practitioners, to undergraduate scholarships under the Indonesia Maju Scholarship Scheme.
She explained that starting in 2025, due to the separation of three ministries, the duties and functions related to scholarship recipients have been divided according to the authority of each ministry. The management of the Indonesia Education Scholarship (BPI) for teachers is now under the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, while PPAPT still manages the ongoing BPI program for lecturers and cultural practitioners.
Furthermore, Septien stated that the PDDI Scholarship, launched in June 2025 and funded by the State Budget (APBN), targets around 1,100 recipients. Through this cooperation agreement signing, all universities are expected to reconfirm the active status of the scholarship recipients.
“The urgency of this agreement lies in the financial components being distributed, hence a binding cooperation agreement is necessary to regulate the rights and obligations between PPAPT and the universities,” she emphasized.
Udayana University was represented by Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr.
In a separate statement, Prof. Alit said that the PDDI Scholarship Program is an important step to enhance academic quality within universities. According to him, Udayana University has reason to be proud as, out of the national quota of 1,100, eight Unud lecturers successfully received the scholarship. This opportunity is seen as opening a significant space for enhancing academic capability, while also giving lecturers the chance to pursue doctoral studies with full support, including tuition fees (UKT), living expenses, and research funding.
“Udayana University highly welcomes the PDDI scholarship as it not only provides an opportunity to improve the academic capability of our lecturers but also strengthens the quality of teaching and research on campus. We hope more lecturers will take advantage of this program so that Unud’s competitiveness at national and international levels continues to improve,” he said.
Prof. Alit also emphasized the hope that more lecturers will apply for the scholarship in the future to accelerate the enhancement of academic capabilities. He added that full support will also be given for both regular and international scholarship opportunities, including joint degree programs, and that more study programs will be opened to accommodate students receiving the PDDI scholarship.
