To Improve Understanding of Social Security Rights and Obligations for Employees, Unud Holds a Socialization Event Featuring a Speaker from BPJS

Denpasar – Udayana University, through the Human Resources Division of the General Bureau, held a Socialization Event on "Enhancing Understanding of Social Security Rights and Obligations for Udayana University Employees," featuring speakers from BPJS Health and BPJS Employment. The event took place in the dr. A.A. Made Djelantik Meeting Room, Faculty of Medicine, Udayana University, Sudirman Campus, Denpasar, on Thursday (August 14, 2025).

The event was officially opened by the Head of the General Bureau and was attended by university leaders and employee representatives from each work unit within Udayana University, including Udayana University Hospital. The invited speakers included Gusti Ayu Prita Aristhi, Head of Membership Service Quality at BPJS Health, Denpasar Branch, and Sudarwoto, Head of BPJS Employment, Bali Denpasar Branch, accompanied by Deni Arief, BPJS Employment Account Representative.

In her opening remarks, Head of the General Bureau of Udayana University, Ni Made Pertami Susilawati, SE., MM., expressed her gratitude to the speakers, who were expected to provide key information regarding BPJS. She stated that the university invited BPJS representatives to help improve understanding among employees, especially since many staff have recently been appointed as Government Employees with Work Agreements (PPPK). She hoped that staff and unit leaders would take the opportunity to ask questions about both BPJS Employment and BPJS Health, particularly regarding the mechanisms for status changes. She also emphasized that this was a valuable opportunity to get direct answers without needing to visit BPJS offices, as the experts had been brought directly to the university. She further encouraged participants to share the information gained with colleagues in their respective units.

The speaker from BPJS Health presented information on BPJS Health and the National Health Insurance (JKN) program. She explained that BPJS Health is the agency responsible for administering health insurance, while JKN is the government’s program to provide health insurance coverage to all Indonesian citizens. In her presentation, Prita Aristhi also outlined the changes that occur when employees become PPPK, along with the preparations required during the transition. BPJS participants were also advised to regularly check their data to avoid service disruptions due to incorrect or outdated information.

Meanwhile, the speaker from BPJS Employment explained the differences in coverage between BPJS Employment and BPJS Health. He also elaborated on the various programs offered by BPJS Employment. It was highlighted that Indonesia has five types of social security systems: health insurance provided by BPJS Health, which covers the entire population, and four types managed by BPJS Employment—old-age benefits, death benefits, work accident insurance, and pension benefits. In addition, there is also job loss insurance managed by BPJS Employment.
