Short Course on Scientific Social Research, Became the Event to Learn More about Research Methods

Sunday (23/04), The Psychology Study Program degree held an activity called Short Course on Scientific Social Research, in order to develop the knowledge about research in the realm of social sciences. This activity was held in 3.01 Room, Faculty of Medicine Building Udayana, Denpasar, entitled "Through Observation, We Seek Knowledge For Life Improvement". The target in this activity was the students in the social field coming from various courses either classified as a new generation and up to a fairly senior class of students. The event opened by Dr. I Made Rustika, M. Si as the Head of Psychology Study Program, which was attended by 36 participants. Where the attendees came from various circles, such as from several faculties at Udayana University itself, Dhyana Pura University, Pendidikan Nasional University, and Bali Health Institute. This activity has been well-prepared for the past two months, with the committee preparing concrete concepts and finding the right speaker, as well as promoting the event to the public.

And this activity is filled by three speakers who came from various backgrounds who of course were an experienced researcher and also part of the staffs of educators in the environment of Psychology Study Program Udayana. The first speaker was Dr. I Made Rustika, M.Si who presented the material about "Quantitative Research Methodology". Followed by the second speaker, Ni Made Ari Wilani, S.Psi., M.Psi who brought the material about 'Seeking Research Ideas: Creative and Innovative Thinking', and the last speaker was David Hizkia Tobing, S.Psi, MA who presented the material entitled "Methodology Qualitative Research ". Shakara, the event's chairman, commented that the event was important because in fact anything that exists around our life is a result of research or potential for research because our lives are also close to what is called research or science. And the presence of this event was also expected to help participants to develop the thinking patterns of young researchers, understand how to do research, and ultimately can produce research that is beneficial to the surrounding environment.

Not only packed with exposure activities in the form of talk show alone, this activity was also packed with short courses, consisting of the delivery of the material by the three speakers above, participants also get chances to discuss together with each speaker about the idea of research that has been prepared before. In addition, before the delivery of the material, there was also given a Pre-test and Post-test at the end of each delivery of material, which aimed to see how far each participant's knowledge. (mimi)
