Universitas Udayana Wins Third Best Award in the Posyandu Competition on Plastic Waste Reduction and Source-Based Waste Management at the School and Higher Education Levels, Bali Province 2025
Waste is one of the environmental issues that continues to increase along with population growth and human activities. If not properly managed, waste can cause pollution, health problems, and ecosystem damage. Therefore, concrete efforts are needed to change the public’s perspective on waste—from something considered useless into something that can be processed, utilized, and even have economic value.
Referring to Minister of Home Affairs Regulation Number 13 of 2024, which regulates Integrated Service Posts (Posyandu) as community-based institutions at the village and sub-district levels that function as partners of the government in planning, implementing, and supervising development, including the provision of basic public services. Based on this regulation, the Province of Bali organized the Posyandu Competition on the Reduction of Single-Use Plastic Waste and Source-Based Waste Management. In this competition, Universitas Udayana, represented by the Faculty of Medicine, participated in the assessment under the higher education category.
The 2025 Posyandu Competition on Plastic Waste Reduction and Source-Based Waste Management at the School and Higher Education Levels for Universitas Udayana was chaired by Ni Made Utami Dwipayanti, S.T., M.BEnv., Ph.D. The main performance indicators focused on the effective and sustainable implementation of restrictions on single-use plastics and source-based waste management within school and campus environments.
Based on the assessment results by the Jury Team of the 2025 Posyandu Competition on Plastic Waste Reduction and Source-Based Waste Management at the School and Higher Education Levels in Bali Province, Universitas Udayana achieved the Third Best Winner in the Higher Education Category. The award certificate and trophy were presented at the Launching of the PKK and Posyandu Kulkul Movement on Wednesday, 24 December 2025, held at the Ksirarnawa Building, UPTD Taman Budaya, Bali Province.
The award certificate, trophy, and a cash prize of IDR 15,000,000 (fifteen million rupiah) were presented directly by the Chairperson of the Bali Province Posyandu Supervisory Team, Mrs. Ni Putu Putri Suastini Koster, and received by Prof. Dr. dr. I Made Muliarta, S.Ked., M.Kes., Vice Dean for General Affairs and Finance of the Faculty of Medicine, who also represented Universitas Udayana.
Looking ahead, schools and higher education institutions as educational units play an important role in shaping the character of students, including awareness of the importance of environmental protection. A dirty school or campus environment with scattered waste can disrupt the teaching and learning process, create unhealthy surroundings, and even become a source of disease.
