Multiumbis: Low Calorie Processed Food Substitute for Rice, Delivers Udayana University Food Technology Students and the Team Wins 3rd Place

Students of the Food Technology Study Program, Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Udayana University and their team were able to win 3rd  place in the Business Plan Competition with the theme "Advancing Local Innovation in the Food and Beverage Sector Through Cross-Industry Collaboration" held by the Student Executive Council of the Faculty of Science and Technology ( DEMA FST) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah.

 

Ni Komang Sri Purnama Liada Putri who is a student of the Food Technology Study program collaborated and formed a team, together with Ni Luh Putu Widya Amritha Dewi from the Faculty of Medicine and Ni Made Erryanjani Eramahardika from the Faculty of Economics and Business, they brought the idea of ??Multiumbis. Multiumbis is a low-calorie processed food substitute for rice made from a combination of taro, white sweet potato, and gembili. Multiumbis has low calories but is high in carbohydrates and protein.

 

Ni Komang Sri Purnama Liada Putri, who is often called Sri, explained that the important point of multiroots is that it has a lower Glycemic Index when compared to white rice so that it can be a safe food alternative to rice if consumed for people with diabetes and obesity. In addition, this product is also rich in fiber, vitamins, minerals and high antioxidants so it is beneficial for the body, not only as a fulfillment of satiety, besides that he also hopes that this business proposal can be developed into a joint business in the future, she said.
