Preparation for the Opening of Doctoral Veterinary Medicine, FVM Unud Held Graduate Profile Workshop and Doctoral Veterinary Medicine Curriculum.

 

 

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of Udayana University held a Graduate Profile Workshop and Veterinary Doctoral Curriculum. on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. This activity was carried out in a Hybrid which offline at the Meeting Room on the 1st floor of the FVM Unud Building and online through the Cisco Webex Meeting. This activity presented three speakers, namely Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Teguh Wibawan, MS who is Professor of Veterinary Science at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical (SKHB) IPB University, Prof. Dr. Mustofa Helmi Effendi, drh., DTAPH., Professor of Veterinary Public Health Sciences FVM Airlangga University, and Prof. Dr. I. Nyoman Mantik Astawa, Ph. D. Professor of Veterinary Immunology FVM Unud. This activity was attended by lecturers and FVM Unud stakeholders.

 

 

Prof. Dr. dr. I Wayan Teguh Wibawan, MS as the first presenter in his presentation said that FVM Unud was very strong in the field of Molecular Engineering or Molecular Biology. This can be seen from the publications of researchers from FVM Unud. So, Prof. Teguh gave input so that the Doctoral Program at FVM Unud focuses on Molecular Engineering. Prof. Dr. Mustofa Helmi Effendi, drh., DTAPH. in the delivery of the next material, he explained the S3-Research Veterinary Science Curriculum at FVM Unair. Furthermore, Prof. Helmi conveyed the advantages of the Doctoral by Research program compared to the Doctoral by Course program, such as a shorter study period and more focus on research. In addition, it was also conveyed about prospective promoters so that they are comparable to senior researchers abroad with Scopus H-Index standards above 15. As the last speaker, Prof. dr. I Nyoman Mantik Astawa, Ph.D explained about the curriculum in the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University as a comparison of learning models at Internal Udayana University.

 

 

This workshop is a follow-up activity from the preparation for the opening of the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Udayana University. The opening of this Doctoral Program is an institutional development because after the Master Program has obtained the Excellent Accreditation Program, it is advisable to open a Doctoral Program. In addition, looking at the Human Resources at FVM Unud, out of 70 Lecturers, 55 Lecturers have been qualified for Doctoral Degree with 16 of them are Professors. In the process of opening a study program, input from resource persons who are experienced in managing the Doctoral Program is needed. “We ask for input from resource persons who are experienced both as researchers and administrators. So that we can get input regarding the profile for doctoral study programs that have their own specificity or characteristics,” said Prof. Dr. dr. I Nyoman Suartha, M.Si as the Dean of FVM Unud in his speech.
