Universitas Udayana Affirms Its Transformation Path Toward PTN-BH at the 2025 Year-End Reflection

Jimbaran – Universitas Udayana (Unud) concluded 2025 by reaffirming its institutional transformation toward a State University with Legal Entity status (Perguruan Tinggi Negeri Badan Hukum/PTN-BH) and strengthening its position as a globally competitive university. This commitment was conveyed by the Rector of Universitas Udayana during the 2025 Year-End Reflection event held at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus, on Tuesday (30/12/2025).

The event was attended by the university leadership, the academic senate, deans and graduate school directors, lecturers, administrative staff, students, and strategic partners of Universitas Udayana.

In his presentation, the Rector of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, S.T., Ph.D., stated that 2025 marked an important phase of consolidation as well as strategic acceleration. Amid the global dynamics of higher education, Unud continues to move forward with an increasingly clear direction toward becoming an excellent, impactful, and internationally recognized university.

The Rector emphasized three foundational work ethics of Universitas Udayana: excellence and collaboration; ethical leadership and local values; and lifelong impact and enterprising nation-building. These three foundations serve as the main pillars of Unud’s transformation in responding to national and global higher education challenges.

As of the third quarter of 2025, Universitas Udayana’s performance on the Main Performance Indicators (IKU) showed a very positive trend. Achievements in study program partnerships exceeded targets by nearly fivefold, graduate outcomes reached 77 percent of graduates being employed, pursuing further studies, or becoming entrepreneurs, and there was an increase in lecturers actively engaged in off-campus activities. In addition, the number of internationally accredited study programs also surpassed the established targets.

Nevertheless, the Rector stressed that several indicators still require acceleration, such as student participation in the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) program, project- and case-based learning, and optimization of budget performance. This evaluation serves as the basis for strengthening internal policies and more targeted budget support.

In terms of academic reputation, Universitas Udayana demonstrated a consistent recovery trend. In the QS Asia University Rankings, Unud successfully improved its ranking and entered the top 100 universities in Southeast Asia in the QS World University Rankings Asia 2026. Significant improvements were also recorded in the EduRank and Webometrics rankings, reflecting Unud’s growing academic competitiveness and global visibility.

In the field of research and innovation, Universitas Udayana’s innovative products remained stable in 2025 with a total of 68 products. The management of scientific journals also showed progress, marked by several Unud journals receiving national incentives. Meanwhile, strengthening the research ecosystem continues to be encouraged through cross-level educational collaboration.

Universitas Udayana also achieved national recognition by winning five award categories at the 2025 Diktisaintek Awards, including the Gold Winner for the Institution with the Highest Scientific Publication Score in the Independent Cluster. Recognition was also received in digital governance, financial accountability, and public information transparency.

In the area of student affairs, Unud students’ achievements increased at both international and local levels. The number of scholarship recipients continued to grow, reaching 8,635 students in 2025. From a financial perspective, the realization of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) once again exceeded targets, accompanied by a strategy to reduce the proportion of Institutional Development Contributions (IPI) to ease the financial burden on new students.

Concluding his presentation, the Rector emphasized that Universitas Udayana’s transformation process toward PTN-BH has entered its final stage and is awaiting the issuance of a Government Regulation. This transformation will serve as the foundation toward becoming a Research University and a World Class University with a distinctive character rooted in Balinese culture.

“All of these achievements are the result of the collective efforts of the entire academic community. Let us continue this transformation with one shared spirit: UNUD EXCELLENT,” he concluded.

As part of the 2025 Year-End Reflection series, Universitas Udayana also presented several awards as a form of appreciation for the performance and contributions of its work units, covering academic achievements, governance and integrity zones, financial management and internal oversight, student performance, and the strengthening of institutional cooperation. The event was also accompanied by the signing of commemorative plaques for the Expansion of the Universitas Udayana Clinic Building and the Rehabilitation of the Roof of the Faculty of Law Building at Universitas Udayana.
