LP3M Unud Encourages Strengthening Global Reputation through WCU Integration Workshop

Jimbaran – Udayana University, through the Institute for Learning Development and Quality Assurance (LP3M), held a Workshop on Enhancing Reputation and International Recognition: Integrating World Class University (WCU) into the University's Strategic Planning on Friday, 14 November 2025 at Ruang Bangsa, Rectorate Building, Jimbaran Campus. The event was attended by university leaders, Deans, Bureau Heads, Chairs of Institutions and units, LP3M center coordinators, as well as strategic teams related to ranking enhancement and WCU program development.

The workshop was opened by the Acting Chair of LP3M, Prof. I Made Alit Karyawan Salain, who in his remarks emphasized that improving international reputation and recognition requires planned, measurable, and integrated efforts across all levels. He also highlighted the importance of utilizing global ranking data such as QS and THE as strategic reflection tools to continuously strengthen the academic competitiveness of Udayana University.

In the main session, Assoc. Prof. Dian Ekowati, S.E., M.Si., M.AppCom(OrgCh)., Ph.D, from the Planning and Development Agency, delivered an in-depth presentation on how the World Class University concept can be integrated into the institution’s strategic planning. She explained that global rankings are not merely a competition of numbers, but rather “a global language of quality and impact” that reflects research performance, international collaboration, academic reputation, as well as graduate quality.

The presentation also highlighted Udayana University’s achievements and challenges across various QS WUR and QS AUR indicators, ranging from Academic Reputation, Faculty-Student Ratio, International Research Network, to citation and publication performance. Positive trends in several indicators were noted as a valuable asset, although other aspects such as academic reputation, employer reputation, and sustainability still require systematic and data-driven strengthening.

The discussion session following the presentation was interactive, involving multiple stakeholders from faculties and work units. Participants explored various collaborative strategies including strengthening reputable research, increasing international participation, and developing programs that support the university’s global visibility.

Through this workshop, Udayana University reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its institutional foundation in achieving World Class University status through a measurable, collaborative, and impact-oriented approach.
