Universitas Udayana Receives PUI-Kekal Delegation to Discuss Bali’s Potential in Supporting the Development of the National Oil and Gas Industry
Jimbaran — Universitas Udayana received a visit from the Center of Excellence for Ship and Offshore Installation Safety (PUI-Kekal) and several related institutions in an audience themed “Bali’s Potential to Support the Development of the Oil and Gas Industry in Indonesia” on Thursday (October 23, 2025) at the 3rd Floor Meeting Room, Faculty of Engineering Building, Jimbaran Campus. The meeting served as a follow-up initiative to enhance collaboration between universities and the national oil and gas industry, with a focus on mapping Bali’s strategic contribution to energy sector development.
The session was opened by the Vice Rector for Planning, Cooperation, and Information (Vice Rector IV) of Universitas Udayana, Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. Made Sucipta, S.T., M.T., IPM, and attended by representatives from SKK Migas, PT Saka Energi Indonesia, and researchers from PUI-Kekal ITS Surabaya (Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember). From Universitas Udayana, attendees included the Vice Rector IV, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Vice Dean I of the Faculty of Engineering, and representatives from related study programs in Chemistry and Physics (FMIPA) as well as Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and Environmental Engineering (Faculty of Engineering).
During the presentation session, I Gede Dian Aryana from SKK Migas, Budi Setiyawan from PT Saka Energi Indonesia, and Prof. Dr. Ketut Buda Artana, S.T., M.Sc. from ITS/PUI-Kekal shared insights on the readiness of supporting regions—including Bali—in sustaining the value chain of the national oil and gas industry. Their presentations covered topics such as research integration, the provision of competent technical human resources, and the preparedness of non-operational infrastructure.
The discussion then evolved to explore collaborative opportunities in applied research, knowledge transfer programs between universities and industry, and potential internship and recruitment opportunities for Universitas Udayana graduates, particularly from engineering disciplines. All parties agreed that strengthening the direct connection between academia and industry is crucial for developing talents that align with the needs of the strategic energy sector.
The meeting concluded with remarks from Vice Rector IV Prof. Made Sucipta, who emphasized that follow-up collaboration will be formalized through an official cooperation agreement as the foundation for implementing joint research, industrial internship programs, and human resource capacity building. Universitas Udayana warmly welcomes impactful collaborations that align with national development goals in the energy sector.
