Sastrakara 2025 National Seminar Strengthens the Role of Youth in Preserving Local Wisdom

Jimbaran – Udayana University, through the Student Executive Board of the Student Government (BEM PM), held the 2025 Sastrakara National Cultural Seminar on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Lecture Building, featuring prominent national speakers in the field of culture.
This event was part of the broader Sastrakara 2025 series, which included competitions, a national seminar, and cultural performances.

The seminar was officially opened by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs of Udayana University, Prof. Dr. Gusti Ngurah Alit Susanta Wirya, S.P., M.Agr. In his opening remarks, he expressed appreciation for the initiative, emphasizing its vital role in rekindling appreciation for local wisdom.

“This seminar is not just a platform for discussion—it’s a momentum to revitalize our national culture so it remains relevant in the face of time. Globalization is a double-edged sword; therefore, the younger generation must be able to preserve the cultural heritage of the archipelago while also adapting to the demands of modernity,” he stated.

Prof. Alit further affirmed that this initiative aligns with Udayana University’s vision of fostering graduates who are Excellent, Independent, and Cultured. He underscored that being cultured goes beyond having knowledge of cultural matters it involves actively practicing and transmitting artistic and traditional values to future generations.

“Customs and local wisdom are part of our identity and pride that must be preserved, as they embody the values of well-being and harmonious living,” he added.

The seminar featured three keynote speakers: Prof. Dr. I Made Bandem, M.A., Putu Gede Suarya Natha, S.S., M.Hum., and Rizki Rahma Nurwahyuni, S.Pd., who delivered in-depth presentations on the richness of Indonesian culture and strategies for its preservation.
Participants joined both in person and virtually via Zoom, engaging actively in the discussion sessions to broaden their insights.

In his report, Vice Chair of BEM, I Ketut Indra Adiyasa, expressed that through this activity, BEM PM Udayana is committed to making a tangible contribution to safeguarding ancestral heritage and cultural preservation not only in Bali but across Indonesia.

“We hope Sastrakara 2025 becomes an educational and inspirational platform for the younger generation to uphold the cultural wisdom of our nation,” he remarked.

With the 2025 Sastrakara National Cultural Seminar, the organizers aim to sustain the cultural spirit while reinforcing the role of youth in protecting the dignity of local wisdom as a bulwark against the challenges of global integration.
