Denpasar – The Business Incubator (Inbis) of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Udayana University (Unud) participated in the 2026 Bali Wellness and Beauty Expo (BWB Expo), which took place at The Meru Sanur, Bali, on June 4–6, 2026. This participation represents a strategic step by Udayana University to strengthen the downstreaming of research results and introduce science-based innovations to national and international markets.

The Head of the Udayana University LPPM Business Incubator, Dr. Ni Putu Sutramiani, S.Kom., M.T., explained that Unud’s participation in the event was not merely a trade show, but a concrete effort to bridge academic research findings with the needs of industry and the global market.

“Udayana University has a responsibility to be a driving force behind the wellness ecosystem in Bali. Through this expo, we want to demonstrate that the various research findings of our academic community are not limited to scientific publications or patents, but have been successfully translated into innovative products with economic value and are ready to compete in the market,” he said.

At this event, the LPPM Unud Business Incubator showcased a number of wellness products developed by tenants, reflecting the combination of Bali’s rich local resources and modern scientific approaches. The products on display included seaweed-based skincare products, honey-based products, cosmetics, and massage oils, all of which have undergone academic research and development.

According to Dr. Sutramiani, the main advantage of these products lies in their strong scientific foundation. Amidst the booming wellness and beauty industry, products developed by Inbis Unud offer the added value of scientific evidence obtained through rigorous academic research, testing, and validation.

“These products represent the identity of Udayana University: the harmony of Balinese local wisdom with proven modern scientific methodologies,” she added.

It was further explained that participation in the BWB Expo 2026 has three main strategic targets: accelerating the commercialization of research results, validating the global market, and strengthening Udayana University’s image as a center for intellectual property-based business incubation. Through this event, Unud seeks to open opportunities for patent licensing collaboration, investment, increasing tenant production capacity, and expanding international market access.

During the expo, the LPPM Unud Business Incubator booth received attention and appreciation from various groups. Visitors included not only the general public but also government officials, healthcare practitioners, international spa industry players, and health product distributors from various countries.

This positive response was seen as validation of the quality of innovations developed by Udayana University’s fostered tenants. By the final day of the expo, Inbis Unud had received several follow-up meeting invitations from various strategic partners, offering opportunities for collaboration in industry, financing, and business incubation program development.

In addition to providing benefits to tenants, this event also served as a valuable learning resource for the Udayana University academic community. Through direct interaction with industry players and the global market, students and researchers gain real-world experience in the innovation commercialization process, business strategies, and the competitive dynamics of the international wellness industry.
“We want to raise awareness that research results not only result in scientific publications, but can also create jobs, drive regional economic growth, and have a tangible social impact on the community,” he explained.

Going forward, the LPPM Unud Business Incubator hopes that the momentum of the BWB Expo 2026 will serve as a stepping stone for its fostered tenants to transform into independent, sustainable companies capable of competing in the global market. LPPM Unud is also committed to overseeing the various collaboration opportunities and investment prospects identified during the expo until they materialize into concrete partnerships.

“Through ongoing mentoring, we want to demonstrate that Udayana University is producing research-based wellness products that can benefit society and inspire the world,” concluded Dr. Sutramiani.
